Hunting Giant 22” Roland

I've never seen one that size! 😲 Would it be a bit border line using 12ft/lbs at 15 metres to dispatch this behemoth?

Why not show an actual picture of the animal with a tape measure, or something else for scale. I always file these under big cats, Nessie, UFOs and fairies at the bottom of the garden.

Brian Plummer wrote about this at least 40 years ago and he called BS on it back then.

Indeed he did.I’ve had the dubious pleasure of owning and working two Plummer terriers and can confirm they were absolutely unmatched as ratters.Having read all Brian’s books and being a terrier man all my life I’d have to agree and say it’s ********!

It's a giant rat. An actual breed as opposed to rattus norvegicus. Not a wild UK brown rat. MSM chatting shite again.

How were the Plummer terriers? I haven't read all of his books but I've read many of them, including Omega

I've seen some big Rats, nothing like 22" though.
I did cut my earlier post back a little, before I sent it.
That is a genuine professional pest control tech in the photo.
The items in the tool tote in the photo tell me that.
But the story as it's written has more holes in, than the wheelie bins in the "back alleys."

I read it as click bait.

If you go further through the article there's close up photos of a Rats Incisor teeth, they are dramatically brown.
This is a natural thing, it's down to distribution of Iron into their teeth for strength. It's basically Iron rusting - they've not been smoking Lambert and desperates.

Anything like a Pest story gives the news reporting industry an instant chub and it's never out of fashion

It could be a huge population of Rats outside and one, or two have ventured indoors to steal resources.
It could also be a fault on drainage which will allow a Rat to enter a property.

Whilst a big Rat may seem to be newsworthy, any Rat in a dwelling is a problem and size doesn't often matter.

This was found in Redcar, not too far from the Wilton International site, formerly ICI Wilton. This industrial past, and the constant emissions, are why the people from that area are know as 'smoggies'. Maybe this one has been bathing in green puddles?

No offence intended to any Teessiders on here. I'm joking :)

At least they didn't use the old litter picker and wide angle lens trick.
Just the plastic bag and wide angle.

It may have been 22" from it's snotbox to tip of tail.
I suppose anything is possible, animals vary.
My dad was a hulk of a man, but, I am yet to experience any Rat of those dimensions.

Like the Craggy Island beast.

For those who have not seen the lens distortion normally used:
