Hi Folks

Has anyone tried fitting a pin probe to a standard, sub-12m, 0.177 Ghost (as opposed to the more normal, round-ended one)? Are there any pro's or con's?

Cheers

Alan

It will increase power so it will need dialling back, I made one for my Alpha Wolf.

I’m looking at doing the same. Mine is at about 11ftlbs so not too worried.

Done mine a few weeks ago, the power increase was almost nothing on mine.

It does cycle the pellets slightly smoother and I feel like its more consistent.

The main reason I made one for my Alpha Wolf was I found the STD hollow probe did not push the pellets far enough to fully engage the pellet in the barrel rifling and left the skirt to be expanded before being pushed into the rifling which is neither efficient nor desirable for accuracy, so I made one that was a little longer than STD and the combination increased the power so had to be dialled back down, I suspect that not all barrels will be the same and the lead in will vary making the need for adjustment different for each gun, plus the STD pin probe available will be shorter than the one I made.

Just reading old threads can someone please point me to pin probe upgrade rather than the OEM one that is fitted in the ghost. I have looked on B&K and all I can find is this, but it indicates it’s for slugs?

Or is this the right item?

Is the pellet probe what is in the standard gun and the pin probe is the upgrade?

It’s a worthwhile change IMO. I’ve actually gone back to the original one for my Ghost as the pin doesn’t support lock open with my magazines and I’m using it for standing LSR, so I’ve moved the pin version to my Delta Wolf. Be careful with updated power and stay legal.

So if you have 177 and want to change, it is the pin you want to change to.

Thank you. Typically, and so often is the case, the only place I can buy one (Bagnell & Kirkwood) is out of stock 🤦.

Just had a quick look. No joy other than B&K. They are pretty quick to get stuff back in stock though. I’ll have another search tomorrow.

Only place I could find them was B&K. I dropped them a mail and they said stock will be back in 2 - 3 weeks

Had one in my .177 Ghost for around eight months and find it better than the original probe. Power did increase which was easily compensated for by simply polishing the hammer spring ends with oiled wet/dry on a flat surface down to a very fine grit and then solvo until it gleamed. If you can't find stock, maybe e mail BRK and get them to send you one. I've had a few bits off them directly with no issues.

I to fitted the pin probe from B&K to my ghost about 4 months ago, I did have to reduce the power very slightly with heavy pellets. Strangely the pin probe seemed to help with smoother pellet feed and down range accuracy. I did try the pin probe in the Alphawolf but wasn’t happy that it was very close to the legal limit for my liking and wasn’t sure how to reduce the power mechanically so I still run the standard probe on the Alpha.
