German 7joule 5.5ft/lbs power

I put a German spring in mine and it’s a delight to use whether shooting 6yds in the garage or off shoulder with diopter sights 20yds across the garden. One other bonus is that it is sooooo easy to cock whether you are 78 like me or a youngster with his first rifle.

Shot several 7.5J guns. Diana 470, 280 and 31. HW30, Stoeger ATAC...Less recoil isnt always the case. When theres too little preload they can become harsh as well. Dont think my Diana 31 has less recoil than a 12Ftp one. My Stoeger ATAC is actually very harsh to shoot feels like FAC. It all depends on how much power is lowered to achieve 7.5J and how it is achieved. The Stoeger has holes in its piston which makes it superharsh.

Ive not used any German restricted rifles but almost every project springer I've bought over the years has been putting out 4-8 even after being resealed, just due to tired springs.

I unusually end up dropping new springs in to get the power back but you do usually end up with a gun that's less pleasant of an experience to shoot that it was with the lower power output.

I totally understand why one might decide to run a target or rat gun at 6.

I have a HW77 in .177 in German spec and it shoots beautifully.. In fact I much prefer it to UK spec but have only been using it for bell target at 10 meters so the lack of power is perfect..

I have, in the past, taken a Hw50 .177 down to around 7 ft lb by just a shortened spring. Very little pre load on the spring, easy to cock and nice to shoot. Still very accurate to about 25 yards.

My little Stoeger x3tac only does 3.5ftlb shoots really nice up to 20 meters ( I haven't been able to try further) has a fantastic shot cycle is very quiet in my back garden , on top of that Mrs Killerparsnip and my various grand kids have all been able to have a go as it's so short a rifle. I'm not sure I could beat it in my situation.
