Morning all, friends dropped off his Galahad as it’s leaking,I’ve filled it up and can hear a slight hiss above the cocking lever as this is a regulated one could it be it’s got blow off hole in the cylinder? I also can see that it’s got anti tamper discs fitted and to make matters worse it’s got multi splined bolts with little nipples in the middle holding the hammer area together, gone are the old Allen key bolts that air arms had in years ago so this is looking like a real headache coming my way,any help or advice appreciated, thanks,Barrie

How about a set of these?

Good idea and I have tried some like these but theyre a bit fat to go down the hole to the head so I’m going to fabricate something up out of one and 🤞 it works other option is maybe try to unscrew the cylinder from the action after removing barrel band etc like you can on the s410 then I can leave those bolts in situation, thanks for the suggestion .

They are also available in long reach for deeper holes

Might be of some help.🙂

The AT screws are propriatory wonky 7-lobe security Torx format jobs, and are a ******* to get out properly. It seems many have had luck wedging various things into them, but it's not ideal.

As for the re-sealing itself; I'd strongly advise against attempting to unscrew the cylinder with the block in place since (just like the S400) it can score the OD of the cylinder beneath the block.

In addition attempting to re-seal a regged Galahad is going to be a total *******; these look like a right pig to setup properly even with appropriate testing gear. Tbh I'm dreading the day someone darkens my door with one..

Oooh... that's new!

Probably as close as you're going to get off the shelf, however as above the number of lobes is only part of the problem; the other being their wonkeyness.

Would be interesting to try some..

EDIT: Not sure they'd be small enough as they appear to run from TT20 upwards; while M3 button head bolts are T10, so I suspect the M3 cap bolts these abominations are based on will be the next size up, so probably TT15..

Thanks for this,I’ve managed to remove the cylinder instead by loosening the barrel band and making sure there was enough clearance between the cylinder, barrel ,cocking mechanism and anything else before undoing it,it was really tight and I had to use some inner tube to make sure I didn’t mark it while having a section of cam belt and a pair of mole grips to clamp it this worked like a car oil filter tool basically and did the job with no marks at all, next job will be remove the regulator tomorrow and see if it’s something that can be fixed,Wish me luck😊

Well here’s what’s in the cylinder,I’ve had a quick look and decided probably better to source a replacement reg rather than messing with this one, anyone know where I can buy one as I don’t seem to be able to find any myself, thanks,Barrie.

Hi Barry,
I’d be interested to see the reg, I’m assuming it’s the same as the other recent ‘R’ regulated Air Arms models.

I’ve posted quite a few comments about these regs over the last couple of years if it helps you, most recently in a thread titled Air Arms evolution. I have the O ring sizes if you need them and can chat it through with you via pm.

Regarding the bolts, the seven pointed Torx won’t be any good as the bolts are staggered. Many use a slotted instrument such as a watchmakers screwdriver, with limited success depending on how tight they are, I either snap the centre pin and us a screw extractor or drill them out on my pillar drill.

Also you have the strange little valve assembly, I’ve replaced quite a few of these too. The external O rings could be at fault, but it’s more likely to be the regulator with the symptoms you’ve described.

Morning and and thanks for your input,I’ve only just seen that my pics didn’t upload and still won’t for some unknown reason,I attach the files and choose pics they then don’t seem to go on here just empty boxes where pics should be I’ve not had problems before so will keep trying.

Good work - would be interested to see what you've pulled out.

I could potentially re-seal the reg for you (at cost) if you wanted to post it to me; assuming my gear is capable of testing it so that it can be setup afterwards.

Alternatively if you wanted to replace it, it might be worth looking to see if Huma or Rob Lane do suitable units.

Had to use another to get these pics up but here they are for anyone interested,I’ve decided to just stick a whole new reg from rob lane after speaking to him the other day and I must say very helpful and friendly he was too. Thanks for the offer cloverleaf but I’ve heard these regs are a real pain to do so will spare you the headache, thanks, barrie.
