The UK - much like the US - officially uses one type of measurement, in our case that’s metric, but reality often doesn’t quite work the official way, we tend to have adopted legacy units in many cases, that’s officially mm, cm etc. but we still measure height in feet and inches, waist measurements are in inches, and we measure weight in lbs or stones rather than Kg, speed in miles rather than Km and milk and beer by the pint, but ‘soda’ is by the ltr or ml. We have been forced to quote power in Kw (rather than Bhp) and 12ft/lb is actually 16j according to the law, my son used to be able to ride a 50cc moped at 16, now it’s a moped with a maximum speed of 28mph or 4Kw, fuel efficiency is in miles per gallon, and we don’t agree with you about what a gallon is either

We do however quite like quarter pounders, our pizzas are described in inches, and we are partial to our ‘natural’ illegal substances by the ounce, unless it’s the powdery type, that’s by the gram or kg just like the US, or so I am told.
Much as the US still uses imperial officially, rather than metric, in certain industries, they have moved to metric, NASA for example standardised its measurements after a number of unfortunate outcomes on probes/joint international ventures.
If it helps, I have referred to feet and inches as dinosaurs and dinkysaurs much to the annoyance of family members for most of my adult life in an attempt to make the use of them laughable, but I am…. different.
