Just got one of these don't know about slugs what barrel what twist rate anything can it be simplified it's a 22 600mm barrel just want to know the best weight pellets at sub 12 to put threw this and do slugs work at sub 12 don't want to put them in and end up with them stuck in the barrel any help would be appreciated am old school load it shoot it.

I would buy a JSB tester pack and try the different weights.

Once you find the most efficient pellet, I would do an on reg to off reg transition string. If it was mine I would be concerned about the power of a 0.22 with a 600mm barrel.

I know nothing about slugs except they have not work well in any of my sub 12 guns.

slugs really ideally need a 1:16 twist barrel or less, no choke and velocity to work best. They do work with sub 12 but only with .177 (velocity) and in certain guns. Mako 10.5 grain slugs are specially made for sub 12 and they are accurate enough out of my Vulcan 3 at 700fps as it has a 1:17 twist and no choke. However they are £12 for 100 so v expensive.

Sorry it's a 500mm barrel

Hi
I understand the post was back in late November but I'm intrigued with how you got on with the 600mm?
I'm thinking of getting the same barrel for my sub 12 Maverick and am thinking of how to get the Mav as quiet as possible by upgrading and tuning whilst minimising air used at the same time.
I also understand that the shot count is great already but look forward to a challenge. I am also VERY aware of maintaining the rifle below 12.

All the best

Anders

The barrel was 500 mm,it would've been 600 mm including the shroud.

Thanks for the reply and at the possibility of annoyance, the Maverick I have has a 500mm barrel and the shroud is considerably shorter, around 230mm.

Again I'm new to the FX so bare with me, how can the shroud be longer than the barrel or have I misunderstood?

I was just intrigued as to what the OP was getting performance wise with a 600mm barrel and would then ask what his reg pressures were to maintain sub 12.

Again apologies if none of this makes sense and thank you for your reply.

The shroud only goes as far as the block and not the whole length of the barrel. From the block to the front of the shroud will be the same length.,whether it's a 500 or 600 barrel. The difference is the 500 barrel stops 100 mm short inside the shroud so they both look the same length. No idea on regulator pressure and if it's consistent and accurate then leave well alone. It's easy to mess things up.

All sub 12 Mavericks were 500mm from the factory afaik. Literally the only difference between compact and standard was the shroud length. I can say this because when @sagalout got his from Jeffsky, he opted for the compact bottle and shroud in preference to the standard, and Jeffsky swapped them over. How do I know? Because that’s what Jeffsky confirmed when it was sold to me.

The manual stated a 30bar differential between front and rear regs, I have no idea why that should be in .22 sadly. As to slugs, I’d skip them in anything not FAC, I have tried several types in FX’s (including my Maverick and Impact) and consistency just varies too much vs a standard Diablo, but that’s in .177.

I gotta ask... Y'all are British ...Yes ? Why then, pray tell, are we speaking in mm ? Inches, - For crissakes.🙂
Even German Mausers were built , threaded to 12 TPI, 55° Whitworth...

The UK - much like the US - officially uses one type of measurement, in our case that’s metric, but reality often doesn’t quite work the official way, we tend to have adopted legacy units in many cases, that’s officially mm, cm etc. but we still measure height in feet and inches, waist measurements are in inches, and we measure weight in lbs or stones rather than Kg, speed in miles rather than Km and milk and beer by the pint, but ‘soda’ is by the ltr or ml. We have been forced to quote power in Kw (rather than Bhp) and 12ft/lb is actually 16j according to the law, my son used to be able to ride a 50cc moped at 16, now it’s a moped with a maximum speed of 28mph or 4Kw, fuel efficiency is in miles per gallon, and we don’t agree with you about what a gallon is either :ROFLMAO: We do however quite like quarter pounders, our pizzas are described in inches, and we are partial to our ‘natural’ illegal substances by the ounce, unless it’s the powdery type, that’s by the gram or kg just like the US, or so I am told.

Much as the US still uses imperial officially, rather than metric, in certain industries, they have moved to metric, NASA for example standardised its measurements after a number of unfortunate outcomes on probes/joint international ventures.

If it helps, I have referred to feet and inches as dinosaurs and dinkysaurs much to the annoyance of family members for most of my adult life in an attempt to make the use of them laughable, but I am…. different.

Damn, took a bit to read that novel...😂
Nasa don't build rifles - moot point.
A gallon is ( properly) 128 ( our) ounces
Porn stars, someplace past 7 inches.
Stones....how the heck y'all ever come up with 14# per, is a dang mystery ! ( Gotta assume Scots & Braemers involved) ? Nah, Braemers are 16#, yes ?
As to calibers .22 is still 5.7 *mm, nope - .224😂😂
Back to point at hand - whilst you folks & no one else, name calibers across the lands ( .275 Rigby vs. 7x Mauser, to my point). Quit that cow -tow to metric...it just looks bad.👍🙂
