Hi all,

So I have taken the jump and just bought an fx king .25 600mm barrel.
Aesthetically I am pretty pleased so far, haven’t even got scope mounted yet but will tomorrow.

Any one any recommendations as to what works slug wise with what settings in their rifle so I can get started as a guide.

Thanks

I have just ordered a .22 barrel for it also so any recommendation's as to slug weights and reg pressures etc are welcome for both .22 and .25

What barrel did you get as i understand the 500mm uses a different liner to the 600mm one

Is there a choice of 600mm barrell? I assume it’s meant for slug shooting because that’s what I specified to the gunshop

It is the heavy liner on the 600mm, at least that's what I was told when I was thinking about one. In the end I went with a used Mark ii Crown. I accordingly use the stx superior liner which shoots most pellet and slugs up to 26g very well. I expect the King with a .22 600mm barrel will shoot heavier slugs as well, albeit you might want to keep it down below what it is capable of depending on where you are shooting. There is a fellow on YouTube that has a .22 king shooting 16g Hades at 900ftps one minute then 28g slugs the next. Worth a watch but rather helpfully I cant mind his name.

I have one as well in the synthetic stock and still playing with slugs at the moment, if I find a good tune I will post it on here.
I can`t get it to match the grouping of my .22 Crown MKll FAC at the moment at 50yds, but not given up yet.
I was told by the Sportsmans that it is not the heavy slug barrel in mine, so I may have to go that route.

I misread the thread title as xxxxing .25 600mm, and was bracing for a rant😂

Hi have you had any luck if your king tune I have .22 600 barrel but was having trouble tuning it I have ordered a huma reg go upgrade An was wondering what settings may have worked for you as a giude 👍

Personally. I'd get the Zan tester pack, 30 of each. Ive got access to a .25 King at the moment. Not done extensive testing with it but it doesnt appear fussy at all. Don't discount a heavy pellet with it to about 70m. Pellet speed I'd start at 880. Slugs at 940 and work up.
For the .22 I'd start off with Zan .217s or the H&N mk2

Would be interested to hear how you get on. Chopped in my .25 Alphawolf and waiting on a variation for a .25 King.....

Can I ask what was wrong with the AMP reg?

I have given up with slugs at the moment until Phil has a chance to do a LW Polygon barrel for me. It is doing pellets okay out to 60yds and happy to stick with that for now.

I have just got a Fx King 600mm .22 and am still at the testing phase also. Huma reg fitted to mine also and also a 700cc bottle. It wasnt great grouping wise with anything below 25grain weight. I have 25gr and 30gr .218 H&N HP2 slugs arriving today for more testing. Power is definatley not an issue, just getting the accuracy dialled in and gun tuned will take a bit if fiddling i think.

Evening all, took me a while to get out again due to holidays & work but did a bit of testing on the same tune and the results are very encouraging. Best result was with NSA 33.5 and Zan 35g, albeit i suspect that is the tune given it was optimised for 33.5g king heavies. Reg 115bar, 2.5 and 23 shooting king heavies at 960ftps

Basically the King shot all Zan slugs between 33.5 and 41g well and the 35 and 37 very well. Only NSA I have are 29 and 33.5, the 29 were likely overpowered and shot badly but the 33.5g were lights out.

Picture shows some of the groups at 50m. Not much wind but the sun was right in my face (getting in an excuse). The Nsa group isnt in the picture but the best one shown is the Zans. Tune was as before.

All in all very impressed with the first round of testing. Will grab some 33 to 41g h&n to test next but will get the chrono out for the nsa and 35g Zans with a view to using them hunting in due course once I validate what strelok tells me and test how they perform at 100m.

In summary, the King is a slug machine, seems to shoot well with most Zans and brilliantly with the nsas.

Looking very good. I'm running H&N HP 2 .218 25grain slugs at 975fps out of my 600mm .22. Half inch groups at 50yrds and with the Thermnight ballistic app set up i was able to consistently hit a coke can at 120 then 138 yrds! Love this gun!
