FX Crown MK 1

I’ve recently bought a fac mk1 crown. Grey lam. Paid £800 on GT pvt sale.
Have just replaced the reg and hammer and done some fettling.
Haven’t had the chance to tune and get it tested properly yet.
I bought some Eagle Vision pic rails for mine so two piece. Seem very good.
I’ll be using it with an Alpex mostly. My intention was pellets but have some light slugs I want to try, also some FX hybrids.
I’m not looking for more than 30 ftlb odd as I have .22rf and hmr also.
If you get one happy to share what I’ve learnt for what it’s worth. Plenty/too much info out there!

Yes would appreciate that, as with everyone else who is sharing their knowledge . I’m looking to use as close to 12ft/lb as it can go down to for closer ratting and close range squizzers then up to max for longer but quieter rabbit work where the HMR is to loud or I don’t have clearance for .

Am I right in thinking the MK1 can go up to 50ft/lb ?
Also can you drop the newer Plenum into it if I wanted to ? To be honest I think 50ft/lb will be ample for my needs .

The plenum is part of the block so no you can’t upgrade as it machined in.
Depends on what power you want out of it.
Think you can run the reg at max 150 ish but shot count will suffer. I was happy with mk1 as didn’t want more than 30 ish.

So at 30ft/lb what is the reg set at and what is the wheel setting, how many shots is that giving you ?

Don’t know yet. Mine had been maxed out and buggered up a bit. The hammer adjusted was off factory and reg creeping and inconsistent.
Factory specs are

Still in fac I'd be wanting to give 600/650 for a synthetic.
The one I’m currently considering is the adjustable laminate version in blue ( not my colour at all ) so if I go ahead I’ll either vinyl wrap it or swap out if poss for a Forest Green stock .

Mine will go down to under 12 with pellets and 42 ftlbs with 21 gr slugs and will shoot slugs at 120 yards

@Lead Merchant
I finally managed to have a play with my crown and get it fairly set up.
Reg at 120, adjusted the hammer spring till it was nice and consistent.
Did this with Hades. Didn’t get round to playing with slugs but I want to run pellets mainly anyway. Did it with the transfer port on med/.22. 1/2 inch groups at 50yrd. Opening it up to max/30 did add about 30ft/s but groups weren’t so tight. It may be better for slugs though.

My thinking is/would be preferred pellet of choice for closer range lower power shenanigans ie ratting and squizzers at feeders and either preferred heavier pellet or slug for distance rabbit control .

If I’m successful in purchasing said rifle, I would be looking to preferably swap the stock out with some one on here either like for like or a synthetic+ cash or the other option is to vinyl wrap it for two reasons, not a fan of the blue laminate and it will be a field gun so inevitably will start picking up wee dings here and there although my Pulsar didn’t really suffer to much from being in the field I guess but due to happen….

What max range are you thinking?
I have some Fx hybrid slugs to try but ran out of time.
Also I’m under the impression of you set the gun up to be balanced for one projectile, you can use another but won’t be spot on. Poss not a big issue but who knows?

Suppose it depends how much colour matters to you. Cheapest would be either live with it or wrap it. Or it may be possible to spray it leaving the option to strip it back to original later.
New stocks are £350+ I think.

Nath may be able to do something clever with the colour of the laminate?

There’s a Forest Green ( mint condition ) stock on FleaBay going for £400+ apparently to buy new £600 ish ?
