Is Constant Sight Adjustment in 10m Olympic Pistol Shooting Normal or a Technique Issue?

Pistol or Rifle, if you need to reset iron sight adjustments from a previous spot on zero ( shooting under same conditions), it's a matter of technique. Look up a pistol target shooting error chart, online, this will help you diagnose errors in grip for various target impact errors/ differences.

The best thing I did when venturing Into pistol was take the effort to clamp it solidly and run a few fills through it.

It was the only way I would be truly happy that I was just a bit poo and the vast majority of wayward shots is me

I've only a small power curve and related minor poi movement. Well within my own skill level so nothing to worry about for a good while yet, if ever.

Generally sight adjustments shouldn't be necessary once a decent stance and technique is learnt.

You'll soon know though with it clamped of there's any discernable poi shift or if it's you 😉

I'm not worrying about scores as such for the moment. Just concentrating on the groups. Some days they're a bit left sometimes a bit right but whilst actually learning it's not worth chasing a zero to the nth degree.

That’s not a bad idea that,

It's highly unlikely, but not impossible that the Steyr is shifting.

Securely clamping it will tell you everything you need to know.

Pistol shooting as I've found out is absolutely unforgiving of poor technique.

Since I've been talking to experienced pistol shooters It can take years to build a suitable/repeatable stance let alone the rest of it.

There is definitely nothing wrong with the gun. It’s just the edder stood behind it. I’ve had a week now and we have already affirmed this love hate relationship. I’ve put a thousand rounds through it this week and it truly feel's and sounds that it’s coming into its own. “I love it”. And all this is down to you and your channel!

From someone who's only just getting into 10m pistol, I'd bet money on the pistol not being at fault (assuming you're using reasonable pellets)

I zeroed mine from a bench and know it groups well too
The fact my pistol cards look like I've shot them with a .410, is entirely down to me

Technique and fit of the pistol are the likely culprits

This page, is really worth a look

I have decided to stop shooting purely based on my own style and instead focus more on the above guidelines🤦‍♂️

When I did air rifle target it was always use the pad, it's more sensitive to place your finger in the same place and release the shot with the pad.
