Found my catapult from when I was a kid

Still got my deadshot catty must be 50 years old now , they came with 3)16th square elastic . We used to argue with was the best frame the milbro or the deadshot but in reality the frames where almost identical size wise . As oldstick says if you were strong enough you upgraded to 1/4 inch elastic . They were good at the time but nowhere near as good as the flatband stuff available today .

I've had mine, or what's left of it, for about 50 years too. As well as small stones, it used to be pretty handy with marbles and ball bearings too. Fond memories come to mind of being able to snap any twig I wanted to hit ... and at huge distances too, which most likely weren't, if I looked at them through adult eyes. Still, great fun though 😃20251117_215319.jpg

I have a modern plastic one, of very good quality, and have a setup to cut my own (flat) bands, I often practice, and am a fair shot with it, it is an interesting skill to learn, in many ways demanding a repeatable stance, and awareness, as in archery,( I used to be in a club for that, way back), and I think both disciplines also contribute to shooting technique.

Love the old frames! Want to pick up a few similar myself but cooler having found your old one!

Modern latex has moved on a long way and the old square is quite frankly awful in comparison, you could go with tubes for a more traditional feel or flatbands but you will need to match the bands to your ammo size/weight for it to be effective, many use paracord tabs or install leather ones and tie onto them or there are flat band plugs availiable to just push fit into the holes.

Used to be 1/4" square rubber.
I was expecting the Milbro name, but dead shot also rings a bell.

Yep, reminds me of the old Milbro catapults, nice find👍

Yes indeed, the Milbro cattys with the 1/4" square rubbers were the ones to have, the only drawback being that you needed arms like Jean-Claude Van Damme to be able to use them 😆

I bought a catapult in the 60's. Had an alloy frame with black square elastic. I made such a nuisance of myself with it that it was confiscated by my Mother. She returned it 40 years later and said "I found this in the loft and I'll give it back to you because perhaps you have learned a bit of common sense by now". Was she right in that assumption.................possibly?

Think it's in the garage, so perhaps needs a trial as I haven't used it since it was confiscated? I'll be surprised if the rubber has survived.
