I would clarify the 'back-dating' in my post at #11 - perhaps that should have been 'forward-dating'.

The renewed certificate ran from the original expiry date hence I will have less than the 5 years I should do.

Ah, then either an illegal procedure or an admin error, and should have been returned for it to be corrected to date of issue.

Sarge, #62

After the issue (preventing use of larger calibres in the UK except abroad - only .300WM & .375H&H) and having to invoke the Complaint Procedure after no sense from the SFEO or the Licensing Team Manager (I referenced them to HO Guidance, et al, to no avail) then wait 15mths further for the outcome, I had had enough.

Having said that, I do not know the specifics of a certificate running out, with no S7 Temporary being issued throughout the incident, and retaining the firearms during the process or what the Law says on the matter - I did ask the Investigating Officer but she said no, so didn't want another battle after winning the last. The SRA (Richard Law, Shooters Rights Association) in their Journal quotes many a Polis Service not abiding by Court judgements when doesn't suit, so you just left hung......

But we approach renewal again soon so we shall see............

so iv'e had my feo visit and everything went well with no drama. so when she asked if i was a member of any organisation i pulled out my sacs document, while she was reading it i asked if this was something that was coming into the fac conditions. she said no. they just want to advise that it is a good idea to have some insurance cover.

Not quite sure what you're after.
You need the s7 after the 8 weeks extension or you'll be in illegal possession, or you put them in to storage.
Your new cert, when issued will start from the date it was issued, not the expiry date of the old cert.
