Now, this is not a thread for Playstations and Xboxes - I don't think? Shrug tt

I have no interest in these types of games typically used by "gamers", I'm wondering what's out there for families, the kind of thing that used to be available on Sega Megadrives and Wii consoles - family games like racing/Olympics/shooting/bowling - that kind of stuff - low level fun games?

So what the modern equivalent, or is everyone still using a Wii ?

Still using the Wii for multiplayer family games, daughter has a Switch but not a massive difference in graphics or gameplay

My soon to be 12 year old nephew has a Switch and plays with his much older half sisters in France and the USA

We are sticking with the Wii we found in the loft, It’s not often on but the kids love it.

Went through a phase before I met my wife convinced I’d never have kids so gave all my bits and bobs away. Wish I’d kept the Nintendo 64

I still have a Wii from 2008 but i have not used it since around then other than to check it still worked a few years back to find pretty much all the stuff on it was no longer supported any more. I was checking it still worked as a friend sons one had stopped working and she asked if any one in the friends group had one for sale , By the time i got it plugged in and working some one had offered her one her son had and no longer used .

I bought Game Cube controllers and some Moto X and bike racing games for it . I let a so called friend borrow the games and the controllers . When i tried it a few years back and asked if he still had the controllers and games he said he sold then and thought I had given them to him to keep .

I still have a PS1 also.

Keep the PS1, ditch the friend.

Might want to keep an eye on the next gen Apple TV boxes as I believe they are targetting this niche with it. Home hub for smart tech, streaming box, and games console. If they can pull it off foir under £180 it might be the next 'thing'.

I stopped speaking to him years ago . The PS1 was my ex partners and it dont think its all there but i may have a look sometime . My own PS1 I bought was sold years ago . I had it chipped the day after I got it and rarely played it and my mates brother in law got it off me in a trade for mountain bike .

I won a PS2 in a works raffle and gave it my ex partners wee girl but it was rarely played with and my nephew you got it for when he visited and stayed at my parents as it saved taking his one when he visited .

Show how much I played my ps4 this game still in the original sealed ps4 security rapper

You do know that Xboxes and Playstations are also used by families? Our XBox series X is.
And if you play any games, you're a gamer.

If you did get an xbox and a subscription to Game Pass you'd get free access to 200+ games (400+ for Ultimate) including lots of family/party games.

Plenty of family/kids type games on the playstation and xbox, but as above, you're prolly best off with an old Wii or a Switch, cheers.

Also mentioned above, there's now loads or relatively cheap "retro" consoles that just plug in the tv and literally have 1000's of games pre installed from all the major consoles, eg: (emulated). Cheers
