So with a recent .22 FAC air slot added to my ticket I'm looking to find a 2nd hand rifle for pest control.
I'm not really looking at the FX's, Daystates or Air Arms. From tge general consensus the Rapid series of rifles seem to be popular amongst the community. Can someone here educate me regarding the different models ie pros and cons of each?
Cheers Steve.

where to start..

Mostly the price ranges differ because of the trigger.
Rapid 7 and early mk1s have Gamo triggers, Mk2s have one of three different triggers.
And the later mk1s are mk2s c/w mk4 triggers..with a different stock.

The mk4 trigger is probably the most preferred, 'sporters' more commonly seen for sale and Gamos are basic but can be improved.

R7s and mk1s are OE fast-flowed as are the majority of mk2s.
And spec wise mk2s have bigger internal porting and increased volume, more power 36fpe+ v 30fpe & more shots 65+ v 40-45

oh and Rapid 7s are not mk1s, the block volume is increased with the same deeper inlet plenum as the mk2.
External difference is 'Theboen Rapid Systems' in r/h panel instead of Rapid calibre and magazine capacity 7/12

No stu, bottle as a working psi on. Then the gun as the same to its setup. Fastflow about 210bar,
Reg gun will run 230/240bar, ;)
So no gain filling more on h&s mode,

U still use the same out the filling bottle in the end,
I got dad's gun sat a carbon bottle, filled to 210bar on a theoben gauged ff, :) Al

I have little or no knowledge of them Steve but from the bit I do know, you are best off with a Mk 2 as the trigger is better. Other than that, check out the rapid forum if its still going as plenty of info on there. 😊

the 2 main men for ow't rapid are both on here (y) plus I don't know if the r7oc is still working

here you go
top Rapid 7, gamo trigger short inlet plenum, best fast flow , low volume takes some modifications to regulate.

middle.. (early) mk1 again intended to be fast flow, slightly more volume- needs mods to regulate.

bottom later Mk2 & late mk1..the exterior design evolved from the R7 bit by bit, double screw gate, curved back, square front- slab sides to waistline & scalloped breech.
mk4 trigger , usually fast flow but fairly simple to regulate.

I'm running a factory .22 Mk1 FAC with 19" barrel running at around 29-30Ft/Lb on it's current spring set.

To slightly improve it's usability I added a best fittings quick fill kit which pushes the bottle fwd. an inch or so but is a big improvement over remote filling the bottle then screwing back on to the rifle. Running two carm style mags which again are a big improvement over the original and also fitted a Cahrlie D'Tuna trigger for improved feel over the gamo style unit.
Also fitted a new bottle for peace of mind👍

All after market tweaks that are fully reversible and can be put back to factory spec if required, no stock cutting.

It's incredibly accurate and fully useable and has that old school feel of solidity and simplicity of mechanism😎

Very nice my friend👍

...why not get a Uragan 2, Vulcan 3 or wait for the RTI MORA or get one of the Epic guns? They would all serve you well and are more modern...just my two cents...

I had the same set up as @johnnyv and it was indeed very accurate, however there are better options now out there, especially if you want a regulator and adjustability on the fly. Ultimately you probably won't get better accuracy moving away from a rapid, however you will get more flexibility and better shot counts opting for a newer rifle.

My issue with rapids is the price, even in fac a good example commands a high price meaning not much of a stretch to get something a bit newer. All said and done if you like rapids, get one as they tend to shoot very well, albeit in my view there are better options out there for a bit more or similar money.

Sold both of mine and have been shooting the FAC SUPERTEN MK1 and it is going very well (y)

My first venture into FAC Air was with a mk2 .22 400cc fast flow with i think a WL 24"barrel.
Just could not get on with, despite a visit to Kev
Am i the only one Shrug tt
