Of interest, the British army didn't want to be reliant on 'backstreet blacksmiths' making respond from car leaf springs. So they put out a tender for a limited production run. Wilkinson Sword came forward and made 200 (i think) which were duly presented to the Gurkas. They were hated for several reasons and got intentionally lost, given away, or left on Base in preference for the original items. So few remain (identified by a very plain blade withinitials WS near the handle). Because of their rarety, they are highly sought after by collectors and command high prices!
