I have just had the pleasure of seeing my standing charge daily rate, has since April Fools day has gone up 60p a day they wont let me fix without smart meter. Without getting into the for or against of it, bad signal area and love harrasment phone calls constantly sayimg i have to and they get nothing of government money by doing it. Can i ask how much is your standing charge day rate, just to see if i am being bullied and extorted agressivly.
 
The standing charge varies by region from 49p to 79p and is part of the price cap. It depends on if you pay by direct debit or if you pay as you use so to speak
Southern region appears to be 55p DD or 59p payg.
Looks to have gone up 4p on payg but unit costs has decreased by 3p

I would suggest changing suppliers and fixing with them if you cant do so with your current supplier. Im with BG, fixed and dont have a smart meter. Several suppliers in the past have suggested I need a smart meter as part of the fix but I havent ever engaged with them to get it fitted. There are some tarrifs that need the smart meter ability to give you discounts but i dont choose the as I have no intention of cooking my dinner or washing my cloths at a time that doesnt suit me.

They just poked their unwanted nostrils in my behind at, from £1.50 to £2.10 a day. All because i dont want a not yet legal required smart meter. Smells like the sort of thing you dont want on the sole of your shoe, EDF buisness. If i happened to get their grandmothers or mothers number and subjected them to so many unsolicited calls, they would bleet like a *itch and call it what ?

I wss on an Amex fixed rate for years, then when i couldnt get a fix in the app because of bad market rates. Now this cuckhold *hit.

Our standing charge is nothing, changed to pay as you go just use an app to credit it. Our gas and electric combined we spend per month circa £45 couldn't be happier. 😎

Why won't you get a smart meter?
Day rate 28.78 p/kWh
Night rate 13.44 p/kWh
Standing charge 46.91 p/day
(All rates inc. VAT)

If you do a rough calculation of the standing charge per property per year times by amount of dwellings in uk the power companies pull in 6.13 billion pounds now you can’t tell me that’s all running costs some vast profits there
