First off, this idea came from a mate, who heard / read it somewhere, so if the originator is on this forum, “ Thanks” are in order ( I searched it but nothing)
My problem, inefficient target acquisition carrying gun, spotter and sticks,
Gun, NP02 holding pistol grip, but into armpit and supported with single sling onto pic rail,
Spotter, attached around my neck on a cord
Sticks, fiery deer or primos carried in right hand ( I’m a lefty)
My issue I can’t spot and walk, I have to stop, drop sticks down then use spotter, then if nothing move on, if I find target, I drop down the sticks ( stick legs moving requiring adjustment before getting onto the target with gun))
So very inefficient…..
The fix, a tennis ball attached with elastic, ball fits under handle keeping sticks open, allowing sticks to be easily shouldered and my right hand free to walk with spotter up to my eye.
When target found, spotter let go and sticks deployed quickly ( tennis ball keeps the legs at a usable angle and is easily popped out to close legs when required
For me this is a gamechanger, in speed and general stalking efficiency, if it helps anyone else great, but as I said, many thanks to the originator, who ever you are….. 🍻

I think that would be great for walking on open ground, but I'd be catching the legs in the woods.

I tend to only stop and scan in a shootable position now if I can help it, so against a tree, or pop the sti ks out then scan.

I'll lean the sticks against myself, gun slung, thermal round my neck, kitchen sink left at the car

The SA80 style sling solves that problem for me when I’m hunting with my PCP.

Means I’ve got one hand for holding sticks and one for the spotter, then can bring the gun up when needed.

It’s great!

I just lean the sticks against myself when I'm spotting, as stated above, but I do have the rifle on a conventional sling on my shoulder ...I'm a lefty too and when I spot a suitable target I range it on my spotter then.. sticks out, rifle off my shoulder and on the sticks, ir on, aim and shoot. I find it easier to carry the sticks with the legs together myself, but a neat solution to your preferred way though, simple an cheap.
Cheers
Chris.

Fantastic idea , I’m going to try that , How do you get on with the Np02 will it group well at 30 yards, is yours .177 or .22. Thankyou👏👏👏👍🍷

I bought the 0.22 NP02 of a good friend, who is an experienced air gunner, he didn’t get on with it ( I was after a a wet weather ratting gun)
He added a silencer which was clipping !….. sorted…. Using Hades it’s grouping as good as anything I own. ( costing a fraction of the cost of others !) means it’s my go to gun at the moment,
