Do not let the Government access information on pensioners' bank accounts.

Why would anyone "hide" this from the government Shrug tt

Genuine question - I really don't see what the issue is unless your trying to cover up for something or lie about benefits. If your above board and against this then your just fighting the system for the sake of it, which I don't get?, just how is this going to degrade anyone of anything they would not be entitled to if they were to be honest?

It reminds me of the quote of "what are you rebelling against" - .............................................. - "What have you got?"
Marlon Brando?

If you've got nothing to hide why do you need privacy?
Said every totalitarian dictator ever.
Once they give themselves the power to snoop on us just in case we are guilty of something we move from presumed innocent to prove you are not guilty.
That, imo, is a very dangerous place to go.

Because once they have access to the bank accounts of everyone in receipt of a state pension, it won't be a human scanning the data.
It will be Artificial Intelligence and Algorithms deciding if anything appears amiss. Fujitsu or similar corporation will write the programme that sends out demand for money and decides automatic reduction of pension payments, on evidence no better than happened with Horizon and the Post Office scandal.
Sell a car or air rifle for cash and reducing normal withdrawals from a cash point, will instantly raise suspicion.
Eat meal at friend's house, 2/3 times a week. A frequent occurrence for me. Computer identifies low expenditure on food.
Will be necessary to keep diary of such events for when questions are asked, 10 months after the event.
Currently pensioners get free prescriptions and winter fuel payments. Easy to stop these for any pensioner with a little savings once computers take over.
Less problem for the Government than the Post Office Scandal, by the time mistakes are admitted most pensioners will be dead.

The government got us over here by having cash apps such as Paypal report more than $600 in transactions. If I bought something for $2000 and sold it later for $700 it gets reported as a $700 gain even though it's a $1300 loss.Several smaller sales that go over the $600 limit also generate a report. So for example you sell several old power tools you could be reported even though you paid a lot more for them. We have to prove the cost and loss on tax forms.

Signed.

As highlighted in previous posts, any little departure from a set income - maybe from selling something - could potentially attract unwarranted attention.

It might start with pensioners but it is a safe bet it will very quickly spread to every bank account throughout the UK.

As we all know, common sense is a luxury which is absent from government departments.
Automatic "Big Brother" access to our bank accounts will just create misery and confusion.

To hell with them.
Don't let them get away with it.

"You will own nothing and you WILL be happy"
Klaus Schwab, author of the great reset and originator of the 'build back better' mantra.

This is why the push to remove cash is gathering pace, can't have any transactions that don't have to go through the banking system and therefore can't be monitored, logged and used against you.

We’re often told: “If you haven’t done anything wrong, then you shouldn’t have anything to hide” when somebody wants to chip away at our privacy and freedoms.
I would suggest that if I’ve done nothing wrong, then nobody should be allowed to snoop on me.

We have the right to privacy, even though most of us already sacrificed some of it in exchange for the conveniences of technology in society.

Where do you draw the line at sacrificing your privacy? Letting the government examine your bank account whenever they like? What if the authorities came to your house and wanted to search it? Would you say “Certainly, I have nothing to hide”.

Where’s the line?

The government denies that it's not open ended and only applies when 'other benefits' are claimed.

This is known as Trojan Horse legislation - they bring in something that at first glance seems reasonable or harmless, but is so phrased that it can then be infinitely expanded.

It's for everyone on benefits, (for now) to supposedly help stop fraud. In this country they see the state pension as a benefit, so your worth snooping at.
It won't be long before everyones online sales platform activity will be automatically monitored.

This is a psychological trick thought up by the governments 'nudge unit' (look that up).

Originally, the State Pension was never referred to or regarded as a 'benefit'. It is actually an entitlement - it's an pension scheme into which you have paid.

Starting to refer to it as a 'benefit' is intended to alter public perception - to make it seem as if it's a charitable gesture by the state which can be withdrawn at any time.
