I have decided that I need a new gun. I am still shooting my old SMK PR900 Victory.
So what to get. I like the look of the Kral Puncher K. But I know what will happen.
I used to have an Air Arms Shamel. Big mistake in selling it. So now I am thinking that perhaps I should go back to a second hand Air Arms S410 or a S510. Of course the issue is price. The Kral is about £380 new. The Air Arms are £650 upwards second hand. But what will I be happier with. As I am just a poor old pensioner.
So please leave me your 6 numbers, so I can win the lottery.

Now that you’ve thought about an AA, You won’t be happy with anything else. An AA410 sounds like the financially sensible option and probably available second hand for not much more than the Kral. Keep saving, keep looking but above all keep it sensible, you can only afford what you can afford. 👍
Good luck

Trust me when I say that regret is an expensive mistress to keep.

We all like the idea of a sub £400 Kral, but the truth is they tend to be a little rough and really benefit from a strip, de-burr, polish and proper set-up, for your time and effort, you should be rewarded with improvements in consistency down range that likely still pale into comparison to a working and well used S410. Save a few months extra, get what you want and enjoy it, life is too short to compromise.

You can pick up decent s410s from about 300-350 privately. Shops will want a good bit more though.

S400 single shot, best gun for the money. Proper accurate ( probably due to being single fed pellets).... Chrono and look at the pressure where the sweet spot comes in and fill to that every time. Take note how many shots you get before they start to drop off. I got 50 bang on the money shots.

The good thing about buying a used AA is they have a pretty flat price on the used market, so if you wanted to move it on, it’s not a gun you will loose much on. Obviously buying used from a dealer provides some benefits, but at a premium, but give it a few years and the used price should have inched up to compensate hopefully.

Well I have taken the plunge, and bought a Air Arms S400f. I bought this from C&H Weston an RFD shop in Brighton.
Trying to navigate through Brighton is a nightmare. All the one ways and the pedestrian only bits.
Anyway managed to get there, and meet the two nice lads running the shop. Was a pleasure doing a deal with them.
The guns was £475, but I traded my old SMK PR900 in and this bought the price down to £370. I have been trying to sell this gun through Gun Trader but I never even had a response.

That is the same price as a new Kral puncher K. Now the gun has a Thumbhole stock, with an adjustable shoulder pad. A weihrauch moderator, and a Hawke 4x16 telescopic sight. But I will swap this out for my first focal plane scope. Cocking the gun, takes more effort than my old PR900, but it does shoot nice.

So all in all I am happy with the deal. I now will not be wondering if I would have been better off with an Air Arms rifle. That is piece of mind. I sort of earned brownie points, because I took the wife with me, so she had a day out, even though she sat in the car most of the day. Now I think it has a walnut stock. Is it OK to clean it using something like pledge, or what. Thanks for all the help and advice, as I was able to blame you lot, as I told the wife that you made me do it.

All the best.

Nigel

You can tell your wife, the lads think she’s an angel.
You watch those brownie points stack up 😉
Yes that’s a nice piece of walnut you have there, if you only have pledge, spray it on the cloth not the stock and wipe over the wood so as not to get it on the metal, It will prefer oil.
By all means blame us, we have broad shoulders. Enjoy your new rifle 👍
