  • Please DO NOT discuss the use of optics/NV for HUNTING in this section. Any hunting related Optics questions should go in the hunting section.

Please be careful to avoid contravening the forum's rules on live quarry shooting, in this section.

Posts that contravene the forum's rules, will be deleted

Which are? Really you need to be a bit more specific but I assume you are referring to the no pictures (or video) of no dead quarry which applies to anywhere but the hunting section.

What do you mean 'which are'? How can Rob be any more specific; don't break the forum rules on hunting discussion!

Go and read the forum rules or the TWO messages Ganton Gunner sent out a while back. 👍🏼

How many of you take 2 guns with you when out and about? Let's say your intended quarry is a 'no-show' but there's smaller (or larger) quarry about, are you ready to take them on or just rely on the one gun?

Have you really just asked about quarry shooting on a thread asking members NOT to talk about quarry shooting here....?

🤣🤦🏼‍♂️

Of course rules are rules and fair enough but the whole point of NV is for shooting live quarry and it goes hand in hand with discussion and videos. People asking for recommendations or clips of footage its inevitable that quarry will be unintentionally mentioned.

If its not allowed then for me it would be better to have a specific “all things Night Vision” in a sub section of the hunting section, that way we can all share, and compare videos etc. Sometimes i’ve had opportunities to post an image or video to highlight an issue or something illustrating a point regarding white out etc but its not been appropriate to post.

You just have to put it in the Hunting section, if I've understood you.

I get ya Joey. Funny thing happened yesterday that opened my eyes!

I pretty much always access the forum through my iPhone but yesterday I decided to go bigger and access through my iPad. I was shocked at how much I could access without logging in. If we want our hobby to remain active, not upsetting Joe Public enough to write to his local MP, we have to be mindful about what we post. As such, you and the other mods are absolutely bang on to push this. This type of stuff has to go into the hunting section, even remotely touching on the issue! All of it…..

There are people that don’t like us and they will report stuff.

Yes but if the discussion originates in the Optics section on the open forum and then a specific question regarding something relating to shooting quarry appears the discussion will need to move to the hunting section to carry on, thus fragmenting the whole thread.

I see what you mean, 👍

Given the relative size of AGF when compared to the likes of Facebook and YouTube and the amount of hunting content plastered across both of those , I find the notion that Joe Public might accidentally stumble onto an airgun dedicated forum and go running to their MP screaming blue murder at seeing mention of a dead rat or squirrel a little far fetched and paranoid to say the very least.

But the simple solution as noted above is to make the NV section restricted as with other parts of the forum.

This airgun forum comes up all the time in Google searches for random things due to the vast variety of topics discussed.

There's plenty to talk about with regards NV before you start getting into the details of shooting quarry.

If you want to specifically talk about hunting with NV then pop a post in the hunting section.

I've been around forums for several years - including the old AGF..
OK I'm an oldy but fecked if I can find how to ask to view the hunting section + the 50 meaningful posts before I can even view the sales section is, I have to say irksome. I accept the seemingly childish rules but don't feel they are a good idea. I have a fading memory and reckon that treating members so childishly is why I became much less active in what seems to be the most difficult forum I have ever been connected with.

In terms of being able to view the hunting section, just ask any moderator
@NIVEA could you arrange H3 access for this member please?
Ta

20 posts in 2 years and then you tell us that our rules are really childish.

And treating you so childishly is the reason why you have become less active because it seems that we are the most difficult forum you have ever dealt with.

NO.

You aint having access to the shooting section.

Thanks but I couldn't find any means to ask a moderator - it seems to have a hidden tab or something?
I have to say its a difficult forum to navigate.
