I’ve already got a few vector scopes and I don’t think they agree with my eyes they all seem a tiny bit cloudy to me, anyway I also have a few Hawke vantage and 3x9-50 scopes and the clarity is far superior but I’m looking at finding a clear clarity scope for not hundreds of pounds, I’m hearing good things about discovery and westhunter and wanted some honest none scientific opinions as to are these a good buy
Thanks again for all your help
Sorry I don’t hunt I basically plink and target shoot but it’s always nice to see what your aiming at

There's a Nikon Monarch in sales presently for £170 - excellent glass in a Nikon...within your budget ? 6.5x - 20x

I have a westhunter 4-16x44 first focal plane scope. The reticle is quite busy with more to it than I would normally like but it’s ok once you get used to it. On lower magnification the reticle a bit too small and fine to use properly but it’s ok from about 8x up over to get the full use of all the different graduations. On the highest magnification I find it a tiny bit blurry too. That aside, and the issues I’ve mentioned aren’t that big a deal in practice, it’s a pretty good scope. They are well made and durable, the turrets click nicely and lock into place everything moves and works as it should and the optics are entirely acceptable for the price point. However I’ve since bought a secondhand vantage side focus 3-12x40 with the half mildot reticle and I would recommend this scope over the westhunter every time, and secondhand it cost less than the westhunter.

The thing with budget scopes is you do make a trade off, and what you do with them dictates what’s likely best. I have come to accept that buying slightly better glass may be more expensive up front, but it will always be decent glass and moved gun to gun. Also budget ‘new’ tends to equal better used, it just depends on what your eye favours and your preferences.

Oh, and personally I would argue Hawke sell great warranty, it’s just a shame the scope that comes with it is an afterthought in many cases 🤣

Just bought a WestHunter for a project I’m working on
£114 on amazon
Cracking scope at a good price

It’s not a Leupold but it also didn’t cost me £2,000

Good advice 👍
