I went to the pub tonight to meet some friends who were in conversation with people I had never met before. They said I had a collection of air rifles. They said they had their son's rifle in the garage, it had been there since he went to Australia 20 years ago did I want it? Yes I said that would be very nice - thank you. Thinking nothing else of it!
Anyway, they left and 10 minutes later the husband pulls up outside, comes in and says - I've got it in the car.
I now have it home and can see in the light that it is a Westlake, lots of spotty surface rust, but it looks very HW35 like! I can't crack it open, but will set to it sometime next week when I get time! Any info would be gratefully received.

If it’s a free well done, but as mentioned it’s probably a B2. I was given a rusty mess B3 some years ago made a nice project still
Have it, probably because it’s worth nothing and because it shoots very well.

As above, most likely a B2 as they have the barrel latch on the side but it's more ontop of the action rather than sticking out to the side like the hw35 is. No comparison in terms of quality but very easy to strip down and work on however if you're planning on it. Congrats on the freebie!

Thanks for the heads up, will give it a quick clean and once over with oil and 0000. Can't break it so it might get some WD40 treatment on the joint!!!

I just acquired one of these with the same problem. I presume that the lever won't move? What it turned out to be was that the breach/barrel detent plunger was seized in it's hole in the comp tube. It's held in with a small grub screw. Take that out and soak it in WD40 overnight then you should be able to push or pull the detent out.

Following on from previous comment thought I'd put them side by side for a comparison between them, there is certainly inspiration from the weihrauch.

HW35 ontop, 'SMK' B2 on bottom. The B2 is also a lot lighter comparing the two.
