Had another one well two actually forgotten oldies out from the club store room today, literally covered in dust. Sorry forgot to grab pics ..🙃

First was a decent older meteor with a little 4x20 scope..but...cylinder jammed wouldn't budge.....suspect corroded piston washer and possibly the original one...oh dear.

So I grabbed another off the rack..lucky dip...turns out it was an original 45 .177 with a dianawerk jubilee medallion in the cheekpiece and inlays on the stock just like this one at Tim dysons, original finish but a fair bit battered.

Shot nicely could do with a time I am sure ..but the funny thing it had diopter round circle foresight with a standard large u notch rear sight. Is that right or should the front sight element be a post or pip with the rear u notch ? It was damn hard to get used to but once we did we pinging the spinners happily out to 20 yards or so..just fun to shoot. 😎

Good find. I love my Original 45. Dead reliable and consistent.

Im sure you could find a post insert for the front sight, they are changeable.

Or fit a Diana diopter on the raised rail section to go with the circle insert.

My model 45 has a fine point post and standard rear notch on the irons which work ok but use a scope mostly 👍

Nice what sight pic do you have ? Ring element in the foresight and u notch for the back sight ??? Seems really tricky to me.
I've tried a few and have quite a few old springers with rear notch sights. The front insert I use is normally a point or post.

For rear diopters I normally use a clear circular insert and use different colours depending on the background and lighting.

OK thanks so we are agreed that a rear u notch and a front ring sight makes no sense and it needs a point or post front sight - or a rear diopter to match. I do have a spare set of gamo diopters but dont want to put that on a club gun and lose them - done that before. Anyone know where i could buy cheaply a suitable front pip point or post element?

Loved these, was my first springer bought me from jls arms .
Still got it .
One time I had more of these than fingers toes ,all cals and variants to scoped versions and rws late variants.
These had a recall for safety catch replacement . Only seen couple with revised catch replaced until factory fitted.

Remember going into jls Arms from school on the bus as was too far to walk to buy a new insert.
Was a round hole type.

Had mine tuned by Dave pope. Closing the rear of cylinder up around trigger unit was one job they did .
Still a fantastic rifle.best ambi stock I know of too.
