ran out of space above.

Do you think I can rely on this unheaded/signed doc? Is its contents true?

Hoping to buy this at Bonhams auction. Been £10k for a few days. Auction 3/1. Fingers crossed

The gun should be proof house stamped as a deac by either the Birmingham or London Proof house. Its these stamps that prove it was legally deactivated, not the certificate. That said its illegal to sell a UK spec deac (pre2016) that hasnt been re worked to EU-UK spec.

Why would i DO THAT? iT'S BEEN AT £1100 for 2 days. Ends 7.30pm 3/1

Just found this on their condition report
As for the splendid Vickers .303 HMG, it is deactivated however, we believe new legislation requires it to have an up-to-date certificate, so the vendor will have this checked and certified by a qualified third-party prior to the buyer collecting the vehicle.
I think you might want to look a bit further into that❓

does that mean I couldn't 'legally' buy it, or the seller is liable if I do. Bonhams wont reply as to whether they would let it go

I've just looked at the link and the Vickers appears to be Australian (made by Lithgow) and is definitely WW2 not WW1.
The Gun and tripod are worth four grand minimum and potentially a good bit more.

The offence is selling not buying. I'd give James at Chelmsford Militaria a call, he'd be able to give you some good advice.

They might let you take the Jeep but the .303 will stay with them until proven all legal, which could be costly and will most likely mean bringing it up to the new standard if not already to that, and then a new deact cert from the proof house. you certainly need to know exactly what they would want to release it?

Well, that brings back memories.
We tested that fitting on a champ in 54 at Putlos Germany.
The problem was the recoil set-the champ bouncing up and down at one point it was striking the ground at 100 yards then bouncing up and firing into the Baltic sea..
Vickers work better on three legs and as low down as you can get.👍
Thanks for the memories. Ex xix

it does say " been at £10k for few days" to me 10k is 10grand

I wouldn't bid until you get a firm answer from the aution House, I'm guessing it's old spec as one stolen in 2008 wouldn't matter if it had an up to date post 2016 one.

We used to have a Champ about 4 MPG would go anywhere
set the hand throttle, sit in the back rabbiting
Believe MOD got rid of them as being too expensive to run
Some engine part were interchangeable with the six and eight cylinders
