Finished another project this week.

An opportunity to increase the shoot count on the Daystate Huntsman Regal HR.

Removed the original cylinder, filling valve and Huma regulator.

replaced with the XL sized cylinder. Greased and replaced any O-rings.

Gave the walnut stock several layers of wax.

Huma regulator working as it should.

In .22 getting around 170 shots.

The trigger on this rifle is really good.

Used prices are reasonable.

Consider this rifle to be somewhat of a underdog choice.

What rifle does everyone consider an underdog and why?

Agreed, it's a overlooked underdog. 😉

My regal HR in fac only gave 16 or so shots per fill, or should that be shoots 🤣.

It lay unloved and neglected a few years. Added a Huma reg, still crap shot count.
Back in the cupboard.

Read somewhere that the highest power regals didn't have the Harper slingshot system, despite what was engraved and the block.
Confirmed by Daystate, also confirmed the porting etc was unsuitable for the slingshot system.

Oh crap..... Anyway I ordered a slingshot from Bagnall and Kirkwood, took 6 months for delivery, thanks Daystate.

Bit of head and arse scratching, a mate, no a genius with a lathe etc cobbles something together.

Its currently at 30 ft lbs with Hades in .22.
When I'm on form, it will give a ragged group shooting off hand. It doesn't miss a beat.
Shot count now double its original. Perfect for a stroll down the garden.

It is a genuine lefty. Never to be sold.

Enough waffle, Avalon simply reminded me of a journey. Thanks Alex 👍

32 shots at 30ft-lbs sounds more than enough for hunting.

The main advantage of the Regal is how light it is for sure.

I believe it is overlooked due to the work hoarse nature of rifles like the HW100.

The HW100 is a similar used price point and impossible to double feed.

Thanks for sharing the journey with your Daystate.
