Just thought I’d ask the hive mind for some advice before I go ahead.

I want to protect the original surface finish on the Dreamlines cylinder but don’t want to add much bulk. Would some large diameter heat shrink tubing do the trick or would adding the heat be a bit risky? I know it’s not like I’ll be putting it in the oven. But I’ll let some one else claim that Darwin Award.

I and several others have used heat shrink without any issue.

My bottle did have a max temp rating on it, I cannot remember what it was (it is now covered in heat shrink!) but it was higher than the temperature needed to do the shrinking which is less than 100 degrees.

I just boiled the kettle, let it cool a bit and then drizzled it over the tubing. Obviously protect the rest of the rifle with clingfilm or something.

This grippy heat shrink is good and available in a range of sizes - I think it is intended for fishing rod handles

Well the cover that was recommended above was delivered today quick delivery most impressed. Even more impressed with the cover. Don’t think you get a tailor to knock up a better fitting cover.

Looks canny.
I've loads of bottles/cylnders/barrels etc I keep in various gun cases.
I can't recall it's name but it's like plastic braiding.
Pretty much one size fits all from a barrel to a 60mm alloy bottle.
It can be used for making wiring looms or the thicker stuff for protecting siht.

Called Netlon or Global netting , this one claims to fit 50 to 100mm diameter

Been asked a few times make some out of leather for people never actually have as of yet, my only thing I would say it could be done and would work but I’d recommend it being lined with a thin suede as leather does draw in moisture from the air and would cause rust issues
