Cutting a O ring groove in a 4.5mm steel barrel

Why have I never thought of that?? One of the machines we use is a nightmare for seeing if the tools clear when things are tight ๐Ÿ‘

We machine an alloy that does that, I've never machined it anywhere else and it can be so bleeding annoying!

I'm the same, the old boys always ground things up, but there's not much you can't order these days, PICCO bars are great for small bores and grooves.

Wow! Emery can grab at the best of times, never where gloves on a lathe, Mill, bandsaw etc, you were incredibly lucky. I'll wear the thin blue/green gloves if I'm on the grinder or deburring wheel, but they just rip away they could grab or wrap.
I lot of the stuff i do comes from my early machining day . i was trained in the days before cnc Mr Mice . we had to find ways in them days to machine parts . make stuff easier and quicker as some jobs were payed on production.

1260.. excellent work as always mate.. well explained and executed....๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
Thanks Hali ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘
Safety when working alone in our workshops and sheds is paramount. just some thing to remember. Even a thin glove when twisted becomes super strong .
believe me when a lathe or mill drabs you . you will not be able to hit the kill button .
Ive seen some right messes over the years and some dident survive

๐Ÿคซ Shhhhhhhhh . i have a springer with a probe . pcp lads might get jealous ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ
Not all pcps have them .
Once upon a time I was playing with steyrs and their relatively long ( for a thumb loader ) leade . I think i may have seen another chap's idea of a pin probe , but it meant blanking off the stabiliser feed hole . It got me thinking .

Meanwhile . @Nickg was doing similar with Tx's .
It's a different game on springers . Cos of the pellet start pressure .I lost 80 fps with 7.9's on Rob's TX because of a too shallow leade. @Nomads HFT has done a lot of work on that malarky

You have to think of the pellet/ breech as a pressure relief valve , you don't want it to open before the desired pressure is achieved in the cylinder. It's more complicated than that as where the piston is in the stroke when this happens is important also.
Nomads has done a lot of good work in this area I believe.
