They are not for everyone, but I love mine, see previous review thread....

I’m looking at getting a CS sporter stock for my 99 and 95, these are guns I want to keep forever so we’ll worth the investment.
My 97 is a stunner in one of their thumb hole stocks.

Hi all, is it worth buying a CS custom stock for a HW99? Worth the price? Improve the pick up and feel? Or just good looking?

Thank you
I bought a CS500 for my first 99 years ago, it transformed the gun for the better aesthetically but more important functionally, the stock made the gun feel like a proper sized rifle.

I now have a 50S in a CS laminate stock thanks to one of our members that was selling said stock , I couldn't pass up on it 😁

Ignoring aesthetics, the 2 biggest functional issues with the standard hw99 stock can be addressed relatively cheaply:

The length of pull to the trigger is very long - I have fitted a few Rowan extra set back triggers to mine and friends rifles, they are relatively easy to install, and they work very well giving a very comfortable trigger position.

The comb on the cheek piece is too low for scope use - this is easily resolved with a bit of camo compression tape and a bit of foam wrapped around the comb. I do not criticise the Weihrauch design in this respect, as I presume the stock is configured for open sight use.

Having done both of the above to my hw99, I feel the rifle handles exceptionally well. I have an aftermarket moderator fitted to mine, my main motivation was to add a bit more weight to the muzzle, since rudimentary testing suggested this improved accuracy, but I also feel this makes the rifle balance even better.

I would not deny that Custom Stocks provide some stunning bits of timber for the 99, and I have often debated whether to splash the cash on a CS500 for mine. Since my 99 handles so well, however, until I have handled a 99 in a CS500 and can judge for myself how much of a benefit it is, I don't feel I can justify the cost.
I agree

I’m wanting one for my little 30 but the prices are mad now.

Previously had a cs500 on a MK1 80 and preferred the old stock…

Bought a cs600 (for the looks) for a 77 but the vibration just transmits straight into your cheek bone and wasn’t nice - it was a nice 77 too

Tempted to try a 600 again for my 30 as lower power but tbh for the little shooting I do I will just stick to my HW stock and shoot more.

They do look tasty though

Standard CS500 has a deep forend which for me did not match the HW99. so I sold it on.
A slimmer forend can be ordered as mentioned by @Varminter , which would be my choice if I purchased again.
If funds permit a schnabel finish to a slimmer forend would add to visual aesthetics.

The CS500 cures the ills, of the factory bat

More vertical rake on the pistol grip enhances trigger control (though I still prefer to add a Rowan setback blade)
The higher comb is proportioned for scope use rather than opens (if you want to use opens, order a CS600 Tyrolean)

You'll never look back
