Unsure if this pic, below, is real or Photoshopped 😳, but with the 10,000 capacity cruise liners of today, maybe ships have become a bit too impersonal? Also, haven't seen a dedicated firing range advertised, but keep living in hope 🤞

That is my idea of a nightmare. When I go on holidays, I go to have a holiday from people!

I'm guessing the density of people on the ship must be 10,000 / Sq Km. 🤮

The UK is 277 people per Km

My last few holidays have been:
Finland - 16 people per sq. Km
Norway - 14 people per sq. Km
Iceland - 4 people per sq. Km
Svalbard - 0.044 People per sq. Km

The picture is photoshop work. Not real...and not a good work either. See the shadows on the ship and the buildings...they are from different angels
I have been on one of the biggest cruse ships going to Venice.
I can tell you what happened;
1- All the waters is in all the swimming pools was drained prior to approach.
2- A pilot boat took over the navigation of the ship to steer it, as some parts are less than 3 meters in depth!!!
3- The ship was moored some distance away and we were ferried over to Venice by small boats.

Its photoshopped, the giveaway is the tree on the far side overlapping the bow, But having been to Venice & seen a large cruise ship coming in on the other side it isnt actually that far removed from the truth. They literally scrape the bottom. One reason why many Venetians hate the things.

Really...plenty of images of it out there

Yes, this picture (in the above post) is real it is the Ruby Princes, I was on this ship, not necessary when this picture was taken...it does some 20 trips a years to Venice, then goes to the Americas in the winter. ...you can see the ship is a fair way from the buildings. But In the first post: The ship is behind the buildings and looks much bigger, even though it's behind

Do you leave the room when you look in the mirror? :ROFLMAO:

Venice is very fragile.
Far too popular for its own good.

Allowing huge ships anywhere near it is asking for trouble sooner or later - not to mention the invisible damage under the water to these ancient buildings from the propellors.

Surely there could be a separate port just a short distance away with a free bus service or whatever suits the location?

I think they were banned in 2021 and now have to Dock in the commercial port.

When I look at any of these honking great cruise ships, I shudder.
I'm the kind of bloke that loonies and the terminally dull gravitate to - maybe because I'm too polite to tell them to buzz off, but I cannot imagine being stuck on one of these things, even given how huge they are, knowing that I can't get off the thing and away from the very people I don't care to talk to.
I'll take my leisure where I can see the buggers coming from a long way off and take steps to avoid them.

But look at it positively - if you get, say, a dozen gravitating to you on day one, you've still got the choice of 9,988 others... 🤭
