Hi Guys,
I have just bought the shorter barrel kit for my Crown. It’s a .25 in 380mm. I’m looking at running the JSB Hades in it.
Currently set up with the 600mm barrel shooting JSB Heavies.
Should I be changing the reg pressure or just leave it as it is and play with the power wheel settings.

Or is there a recommended range for the reg to be at with this length of barrel.

I fitted a Huma reg and digital gauges to it when I first set it up so it’s easy enough to adjust. I just don’t know what to be adjusting it to for this new barrel.

Cheers

Andy

What power were you running ? because you've almost halfed the barrel so your power will not be as much or efficient , youd pretty much want to detune because otherwise you'll just be wasting air blasting it out , your setpoint will be lower, drop your reg pressure and tune for a lower power. Cant say more on forum sorry.

It was about 65ft/lb with the Jumbo MK2’s.

I’ve googled about and found answers anywhere from 100bar to 150bar reg settings. So think I’ll start about 135bar and see what speed that gives me.

I’d like to be about 875fps with the Hades that translates to about 45ft/lb.

I have the same set up as yours and run the 25 grains jsbs

I’ll chrono it and get the reg setting for it tomorrow but too if my head I think it was 130 or 135 bar so you’re in the perfect area , I initially had the reg abut about 120 and it was very sweet and throwing out the 25 g at about 820 fps iirc but I read on here that these pellets are better at 880 , upping the reg to 135 got me there ,

I found it much more manageable with the 380 barrel , 600 gave me about 10 ft lb more but in all honesty I only want it for sub 80 yard rabbits so plenty

Yes. I must have found the same posts etc.

The setup at the moment is a laser. I’ve taken a rabbit at 135m and it rolled it. No bother at all.

My only gripe is that with the mod on it is so unwieldily and I find I’m bouncing it off everything. So I’ve gone with the shorter barrel to make it handle better and almost all my shots are within 75m too.

Sounds like you are on the right path, my MK2 .25 is pretty much the same, except a 500mm barrel that I cut down to around 420mm to remove a damaged section. its a brilliant transportable size and enough for 100 yards with the right ammo. Hades produce the best at 80 to 85 yards at 865FPS for me. In calm conditions it can be pushed further, maybe to 100 yards but it's predictably accurate at 80 yards. Kings or FX standard pellets fly betterat further ranges but the Hades do smack stuff better. RP at 135 to 140 see's around 60 shots per fill from the 250 bar down to 150 bar. I have 2 spare bottles so I can 'hot swap' them when on a longer walk ;) Turning it down to to medium shoots 680fps makes for a good day pesting from a hide over decoys and is loads quieter too. My min power is just over 12FPE and makes for a super quiet ratter too, very versatile guns.

So. The rifle began the day shooting the Kings @ 900fps and looking like this…

The squirrel massacre shorty is now moving Hades at 870fps 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

And doing it rather well too 😍

Lovely looking stock too , chronod mine earlier and 872 with the jsb 25 grainers

Happy hunting

Zero tomorrow and then 15m squirrels in the hide on Sunday morning. 🤣 might be a tad overkill but I want to send some pellets 🤣🤣

ill be able to hear the pellet whack from here.

For info. This is how I’ll be zeroing.

15mm kill zone on a squirrel head. Point and shoot out to 47m. I don’t get many long shots on the squirrels as there is usually a tree in the way the further out I go!! So this is a good setup point.

I love that GRS stock
Pretty aint they? I love the feel of the GRS stock, just something about the feel of them. Handled one of the new King's a week or so ago in the Nordic Wolf... almost fell in love with it. Shame it was pre-ordered for someone else
