Well Ive been shooting diopters for a little while now with my Cometa 100 and have become hooked, so was looking for a sensibly priced pcp to get going with, seen the Crosman and has luck would have it and a blooming brilliant rfd nearby I have in my mitts a new Challenger to test

Hopefully get shooting it midweek ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Little update
I had a few hours at the range today with the Challenger, I slipped a scope on for this as I wanted to carry out a quick pellet test and that would remove my diopter skills from the testing and I could actually see which pellets were better.
The gun is spitting out hobbys at 570fps which is just over 5ftlb, Im leaving that as is for now as shotcount is huge at 300+ and I will chrono the better pellets later and will obviously be experimenting with pellet and fps later as well as ant fettling thats needed.
I put the card up at 22yd as 15 was proving hard to tell difference unless it was a really bad pellet, so 22yds and 5ftlb returned this test, five or six shots, straight out of tins and no barrel cleaning, this was just a first shoot, feel the trigger and get to know the gun.

Nice

Got a piccy of the rifle

Bought some more wadcutters to try head sizes preference, 15yds up farm standing and leaning on door frame. I will choose a pellet this week and get the diopters on and shoot a card or two

I think Im going to enjoy this gun ๐Ÿ˜‰

Been shooting this non stop ๐Ÿ˜‚
So found its preference pellets and found it will actually shoot quite a few quite well but Ive chosen to go with jsb match medium in 4.49/50&51 as I cant separate them, actually its more down to how focussed I am over many pellet options ๐Ÿค

Now the scopes coming off and I can fit the supplied dioptet set, its actually quite a nice set and has 4 hood sights in 3.8,4.0,4.2 and 4.4mm and a nice touch is they give you another set for canted shooters, iris measured up at 1.1mm or as close to that as I could manage.

Silencer adapter with rail for hood is a must next as the warmer nicer range where I shoot has a silencer rule, so if any Crosman guys or anyone else know where to source one, Id appreciate the heads up ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

A little further and the hook is set firm, Im loving it ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Trigger is coming good, as mentioned the break is crisp but pull is firm and Ive since had it said that out in the US these are designed for their three position class snd thereโ€™s a minimum trigger pull which is 1.5lb, Ive now let off a bit of adjuster tension which has helped but thereโ€™s a spring inside too as even with the adjuster off the trigger still has some tension, so Ill investigate that later, but with it set at near its lightest pull, this trigger is good, very good actually and for those that know more than I do, its the Marauder trigger I believe and have read good reports on these.

Pellet fps can be adjusted easily with the rear ssg adjuster and port adjuster which is excellent as Im finding just 5 or 10fps can make a pellet come good, this LW match barrel definitely prefers wadcutters and Ive begun to shoot through the same pellet holes ๐Ÿ˜Ž obviously with scope fitted as Diopters canโ€™t be fitted until I can get a silencer adapter that allows a front sight to be fitted as my local range has a silencer rule, Crosman make a front sight mount OR a silencer adapter but not one for both ๐Ÿ˜‚

Also the shotcount is huge and when I get time Ill try to get a full shot string but I feel the tablets battery may run flat before its finished

Im now experimenting with slight fps changes to some of the less accurate pellets and just 5 or 10fps is clearly having an effect so Id say wads can definitely be pushed or pulled to shoot better and Id best not write off any until given a chance at various fps

Onwards ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Im smitten ๐Ÿคฏ

I canโ€™t help myself and all I think about is getting this Challenger up the range again, I have a silencer adapter being sorted so some BR cards can soon be shot in anger ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Ive adjusted trigger but want to investigate spring tension options now as said before these have to be firm to pass the US requirements and has two blade tension springs, its not bad but the more I shoot it the more I feel the need, the break is very crisp indeed and I say needs nowt, but the first pull is firmer than I like and has a very positive stop on 2nd which is good, I think its just personal as a few friends think its brilliant but they shoot hwโ€™s ๐Ÿ˜‚

Its proving to be a very accurate rifle with a few different pellets and Ive found wads to have the edge over diablos, what has impressed me is how much effect I get with some slight fps changes with each pellet and Ive dialled some in very well indeed, but with the huge selection of wadcutters from jsb with light, medium and heavy plus sizes from 4.48 to 4.52 I thought Id better investigate a little more and do some testing

First card at 15yds up the farm, albeit with a scope but at last I got a start and with a cool classic ford wheel seat ๐Ÿ˜‚

Well happy with what I scored it at too and canโ€™t wait to get inside the range and improve from a decent start, it looks promising for sure ๐Ÿ˜Ž
