Crosman 2260 Help

I have stripped it again and fitted the seals I didn’t use last time!
I have noticed that the plastic breech is slightly raised at the front and I can see the bottom of the transfer port! Is this my problem? Before I waste another cartridge!
There is a plastic spacer between the barrel and the action, I think I might just cut an inch off as it is very close to the breech!!

Any suggestions would be very welcome as I know nothing about these! What sort of power should they produce, given that it’s called the Rabbit Stopper!!

Difficult to asses without seeing it in the flesh. I wouldn't cut the spacer. I don't think it is your problem. You say the breech is lifted which suggests your valve assembly, and/or hammer and possibly transfer port are not well aligned. Given your caplet piercing issue I suspect the valve assembly may be at least some of your problem.
In your position I would take it apart. Then watch as many strip/rebuild guides as you can before putting it back together again slowly and methodically.

PS I think mine was last running at about 8.5 in cool weather, can't remember which pellets, probably H&N FTT? Will be more powerful in the warm and lees when it is very cold.

PPS you can assemble it without the cosmetic spacer if you think it is the issue.

I think it is losing air through the transfer port, I put the replacement rubber seal in and felt it was too small, I can feel escaping gas when I fire it. The transfer port is not very secure and I do not want to over tighten that tiny screw! I spent an hour looking for that minute allen key this morning. Actually found my original 'lost' one before finding the missing one in the safe place of my tin of dentist picks Head bang 65 . I have changed the valve stem and put a softer valve spring in as well as a spring guide for the hammer spring
This is not my sort of gun, I am only doing this because a neighbour gave it to me and keeps asking after it. I have now wasted days and cash on it🤬
Apart from reassembling the back end again, I am not sure what to do next!the valve body is in correctly, so I don't think that needs to come out again. I think I have been guilty of over tightening the cartridges I think the needle gets stuck when it pierces it.
Thanks for helping out (y)

I am not happy with the seal in that area, so I have blown another £8.50 on a bigger transfer port and 2 seals. Will no doubt end up with a metal breech Grrrrrr

Steel breeches are much better as when you tighten it down it doesn’t bend like the plastic one does. Also if you have a set of pro blocks fitted to the barrel when you tighten them they also bend the plastic one up separating it from the tp…….dom

If I wake up early tomorrow in a tinkering mood I will take mine apart to check if I need a new valve to cartridge seal. Are there any pictures I could take to help you with yours?

I’m pretty certain mine rumbled along quite nicely at 10ish ftlbs……dom

I can see I am going to end up spending a ton of money on a gun I don't want just to satisfy my neighbour!! However he has a few guns I covet and he can't live forever!!!!! He has also given me a load of gun related books to move on so will have to find time to that at some point!!
I had the front of the breech flush, until I tightened the back screw when it lifted again 🤬

Can you look at the valve body, I find if I push the 'needle' out it stays out, I was rather assuming that the CO2 pushed it back?

I think my plan is to fit the the new TP and seals. If that doesn't work I will bite the pellet and buy a metal breech.
I so want to be getting on with my Mk2 Airsporters!!!! But daren't have 2 jobs on the go at the same time as I am such a messy worker.
