Put this together at the weekend. Have 2 backpackers and parts for two 1377s, here's one of them.

Wanted an all wood and metal 1377. This one has a flat top piston and valve, trigger modified and shoots nicely. Although I do prefer the manual cocker at the back for the hammer and I have one, but with the set up it's too hot and I do not want to weakened it in case I over do it and ruin it, so I've gone for the bolt cocking hammer setup for the time being and a suitably matched hammer spring. This does 4fpe on 5 pumps no air left over and maxs at 5.2ftlbs with jsb heavies at 8 pumps with air left over. Then drops off past 8 pumps which is good. It's very quiet with his fatboy silencer

I'll probably build a second 1377 and have a go using the manual cocker at the back and I have a aluminum cone pump mechanism and valve which do not generate as much power as the flat top set up. I will also try a lower diameter transfer port also and I am hoping to max around 5fpe at 8-10pumps and not dump any more pumps above that. Then I will swap the wood grips over and stick with the manual cocker one if I can set it up right. I polished it up nicely today so I'll use it on either a 1377 or one of my backpackers.

That's a classic. Manual cocking as well, think they switched to the bolt style in the later models but I don't know why, I prefer the older style
It's been a solid performer since my dad brought it home circa 1980s.

There's something about these crosman pump ups isnt there. I have an old backpacker from early 2000s.

I mainly hunt with pcps now - hw100 mostly, a brocock, and my heavily modded BSA scorpion Pcp. But i had a 1377 when I was a kid which I loved, got me into shooting and provided me with hours/days/weeks of fun. Never really been a plinker as an adult, tried lots of different air pistols and rifles for plinking purposes but never end up keeping them. Where as these crosman pump ups, I love them and still have them. Use them in the shed with few a few pumps , garden at max, take it on my permissions for a quick plink. Probably because they bring back memories of my youth :) . Plus they're great fun modding them too.

They are a right money pit but great guns,I wonder how the quality will hold up now they are manufactured in china.

Haha tell me about it.

Quality probably won't. Making the oldies more desirable I imagine. Still there's loads of aftermarket parts out there to bring them back up to standard
