As long as those roads don't lead to Dewsbury. That place is like something from a fever dream. The best things about Bradford city centre, and the majority of the closely adjoining suburbs, are the roads out of them.

Britain is getting a bit bit tenuous now. It's three regions, sub-divided into fiefdoms of Mayors, Commissioners. local government councillor grubs, etc and saturated with layers of bureaucrats and administrators. There has been a steady de-centralisation and erosion of the State entity that was the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Lytham was an eye opener .... It was a beautiful sunny day so stopped off after been at Blackpool (I like the new front with all the jokes on the paving) .When I spotted this thread I was hoping Blackpool was mentioned so I could counter with nothing but positive experiences.
I have in laws in Lytham St. Annes and have been over there many times for various occasions going back decades . It's like Disneyland for retired people with a bit of life left in them.
Lovely quite, respectable little spot. We had dinner and drinks on a front patio in the nucleous of the town on a busy Saturday night and even though it's a busy spot and people were constantly walking past it was like a private party, There seems to be a preference for old school manners about the place amongst the business owners and residents.
That steak and ale pie in the family run restaurant there's always a queue outside is a behemoth and they have no bother with a doggy bag. World class music festivals on the seafront, every year, great pubs and restaurants and only 10-15 minutes from the centre of Blackpool with all the shows and entertainment.
My niece dragged us along to a Bingo night last year and I was shocked, the toilets were genuinely like a 5 star hotel, full restaurants, table service for everything, VIP lounge where you could play in silence and a laptop fills in your numbers as they are called.
Blackpool is brilliant, there is always something going on for entertainment. I love the place.
Beautiful but that’s St Anne’s, lovely seafront but Lytham is 4 miles further along the coast and well worth a visitLytham was an eye opener .... It was a beautiful sunny day so stopped off after been at Blackpool (I like the new front with all the jokes on the paving) .
It was like stepping back in time with the lovely old pier and all the old dears sunning themselves while another old lad entertained/busking playing an organ. Fish and chips near the lifeboat station

When I moved up to WY (2003-05 ) my first impression of entering Bradford was that all the speed cameras faced inbound traffic in hope of catching a snap of the ram raiders faces coming home. When did you last visit?

Imagine a mugger and his victim who's saying "Is this a dagger I see before me"?And this is just the biggest piss take in the history of piss taking![]()

Exactly, what a joke. Bradford used to be a very rich town in the era of the thriving Mills, with many beautiful buildings (e.g. Little Germany area) but now ---------Imagine a mugger and his victim who's saying "Is this a dagger I see before me"?
One of my best mates is from Immingham and he relates the above too, even in his time (he is 50 now), he trained as a trawler maker / plater in Grimsby / Immingham now works overseas.Grimsby. I work in a medical centre in Riby Square. The prostitutes are as far from “Pretty Woman” as it’s possible to be. Freeman Street used to be a thriving shopping hub but is now full of ‘barber’ shops and ‘convenience’ stores. After dark it’s a dangerous place to be and English is a dirty language. Only 30 years ago Grimsby was a thriving fishing town with plenty of money coming in from the trawlers and associated trade. Now it’s a shithole. Such a shame.
Luckily for me I live a good way out of town in the sticks but it breaks my heart to see what the town has become.
I used to belong to a forum where the administrator blew his top, slagged off every single forum member (it took some time in the small hours of the morning) then banned himself, never to return.Oh go on tell us!
Could you ban yourself?
Last year, though when I last lived there Forster Square still resembled a post-war bomb site. When did you last visit?
