I have on order a Cp1m in .22, it hasn’t been dispatched yet.
On looking at the 6m and 10m target posts on this forum I realise that .177 seems the preferred calibre.
I phoned the supplier and they don’t have Cp1m 177 in stock but do have the Cp2 in black.
I had wanted just a pistol version but the Cp2 comes with the butt extension.
Is there a noticeable difference between using Cp1 or Cp2 in just their pistol versions

If you buy a cp2 the pistol grip is different from a cp1 only kit. However the cp2 comes with a silencer which is absolutely brilliant With mine on all you can hear is the hammer. I shoot indoors and no one can hear it. Trust me if shooting indoors you need a silencer. The cp1 kit you will need a adapter for a after market silencer though Not expensive. 177 has a flatter trajectory and is in my own opinion the only choice in low power weapons. I can shoot up to 25meters using cp1m. As in other posts treat it to a @BobP pistol grip. Also I recommend a barrel band. But that's up to you.

As far as I know they pistol bit is basically the same for the cp1 and the cp2?
Funnily enough, I used to have a CP2, but sold it a few years back and I have just bought another CP2 and a Bob Pattenden folding stock kit, but have not got them yet.
Obviously with the cp2 you can shoot it as a pistol, (slightly different grip to the cp1), or you can add the butt stock and the longer barrel and then shoot it as a carbine rifle (my preferred option).
The cp1 comes with a mag, but the cp2 comes with a mag and a single shot tray also.
Arguably the cp1 has a slightly more "target" orientated pistol grip than the cp2?
For the extra money I'd go for the CP2 as it gives you more options, eg: pistol or rifle, single or multi shot.
Cheers

Thank you Zebb. I think I personally prefer the Cp2 now after a lot of reading. It seems nobody speaks of a real noticeable difference in accuracy other than remarks about the preferred grip on the handle of the Cp1. On the plus side, the Cp2 already comes with a moderator and has the capability of being used in rifle mode. As for barrel band, this comes with the kit designed to be used for the extended barrel, but I can’t see why it can’t be used on the shorter barrel as well ..unless I’m missing something. Thanks for your input and help.👍

No dramas, yes it can be used on pistol same as. I have cp1m and a cp2 I wasn't overly impressed with the longer barrel. The cp2 trigger has a bit more adjustment, but the CP1M trigger is most excellent too. Think the cp2 barrel band has a top for added sight, ? But if needed barrel bands on bay if needed.

Thanks Peter, I have changed the order now to the 177 Cp2. All the reasons you give are very relevant. I have read about the pistol grip on the Cp1 being preferred but that is surely by people who have handled both. As I’ve never handled either it shouldn’t really make a lot of difference to me. I’ve been very happy with the Cometa but would really like to try some 6 or 10 yard pistol target shooting. That old Hurricane is not much use for that. I’d get nearer the bull throwing my darts set 😉
Hopefully I’ll receive it this coming week 👍

differences
grips
trigger group
rear tube end cap
barrels
the CP1 was the first pistol and we had them in the states and they had a real hard tome selling even at 70 bucks aqnd then they disappeared many years ago
the one thing many liked was the wood grip even though it is, was a bit blocky and it has a end cap to screw to
the CP2 came to the states as the Diana Chaser i bought my first 2 before the end of 2019
the sear spring on the CP1 is at the front of the sear and that makes it harder to improve the trigger group
the CP2 has the sear spring in the middle and the original guns came with 2 adjustment screws one you could see and one that was hidden so it was the better trigger group for though who wanted to tinker and tinker i did
now the new CP2 trigger group has change and i have not had one in hand to look at, better then the CP1 but not as good as the early CP2
barrel on the Cp1 is a little over and inch longer, different front sight and not threaded
so, when push come to shove the CP2 is the better gun
now i only own 7 Chaser so i could be biased

From what I’ve seen, the main difference is the weight and balance. The CP2 with butt extension will feel a bit steadier, but handling as a pistol only is similar to the CP1. If you mainly plan to shoot unsupported, the CP1 might feel a touch lighter and quicker on target, but both are solid options.

One thing I’ve just seen about Cp2 according to ‘The Flat Cap Fettler’ on YouTube is that you can’t use the magazine without a scope as the magazine is higher than the iron sights. Is that right?

Hi Mate I think its designed to be used with the iron sights or a scope.
Looking back at the old photos from mine, and from the box art/photos, it looks like the rear iron sight is just slightly higher than the mags that are supplied.
See the attached photos....

Bear in mind the mag is slightly offset to one side, not central, (I think from memory!)
However, some of the aftermarket mags are bigger, (taller) so that might then be an issue.
I did remove the rear sight on mine when I had one, and I did fit a scope.

I've used both my CP2s with iron sights n the mag. I just have original nags n somewhere on here are instructions on how to make them better.
Out the box, without doing anything to them, they were very accurate with little adjustment needed.
Great little guns in whichever set up.

The CP2 makes a superb carbine with either the long or short barrel. As a pistol it's ok but as a target pistol, it's bloody awful. The grip is badly designed and a CP1 is much better for use in that genre . Being wood , it can be reshaped for the individual if the owner feels like it.

Aftermarket 3d printed target grips are available for both models . When fitted to a CP2, they make a poor target pistol into a passably good one

Ooh, Cp2 is already ordered now. Just have to see how it handles for target work. Might have to look at the aftermarket grips if I can’t get on with the originals. I have seen the aftermarket options available on here supplied by one of the members 👍

How's it going with the CP2 🤔. I'm trying to resist the urge to get another replica ... Gimme some positive feedback so I can shelve a luger po8 or ppk/s ...
I actually need something for 20 yard target 🎯 work over a fetish pistol.

Going well. At the moment I have only used it with short barrel in pistol mode and it seems very accurate at 6 yard and 10 yard targets that I’ve been using. I tried it in rifle mode with the long barrel and stock on 20 and 25 yards but my eyesight is not great and I have to use a Red Dot sight, unfortunately my Red Dot hasn’t got enough adjustment to alter the elevation accurately enough for that distance. Still feels powerful enough but can’t do it justice until I get a better sight. Happy shooting whatever you get 👍

Thanks for the swift reply ... You've helped me decide a Cp2 is the sane purchase .
Out of curiosity , why don't you fancy slapping a little scope on her 🤔
