Been airgun shooting for about 6 years now, had a farm field permission for target only shoots and with a responsible approach all goes well, now all changed the farm is now strictly for farm business only no other activities allowed. Approached another landowner I know with a similar permission enquiry, this time it was denied due to site considerations, public footpaths and a nearby house, I accepted this without attempt at persuasion otherwise. For those wishing to do the same are you finding it as I am, a closing chapter in countryside living?

Do not know if this is 100% correct. Friends, checking for permissions, struggling, farmers having shoots on their land a couple of times a year, corporate stuff, could not hit a barn door, messes stuff up for us.

Hello, Depends where you are in Oxfordshire but most farms/ farmers in the Vale already have people to shoot vermin, Have their own pheasant shoots and have dedicated pigeon shooters, Saying this if your only using an Air Rifle have you looked on Stables, Small Holdings/ Wood owners, Pig/Sheep farms, Farmers a finicky in knowing who is on their land, That is not to say its a closed shop, Although it a busy time with Harvest have you done any door knocking ??, Make a list of those mentioned and see how you get on , After harvest is a good time for Ratting when they come of the fields for winter, Stables and sheep farms might hold rabbits that need sorting, good luck

We have to put ourselves in the position of the farmers/landowners. . If a complete stranger knocked on your door asking for permission to be on your property with a rifle, what would you say?

Ideally, we need to know the people who can allow us onto their land..... or they need to know us (for the right reasons).

There is no short route to establishing the friendship and trust. It takes time and perseverance.
