Good Morning All,
Found this forum yesterday you guys maybe able to point me in the right direction.
Looking for my first gun.
A .177 for target shooting.
There's a shooting range near me but don't want go pay £20per hour to hire.

So the guns iv been looking at :
Kral np02
Reximex Myth but just seen the lite coming out. (Really like the look of these)
Bsa Ultra
Bsa scorpian.
The Gamo Phox keeps popping up but dunno if i like where the safety is.

But with this what's a good recommended silencer and scope?

Iv got to convince the wife it's a good idea 😆.

What area are you in? There's a ranges database and map on here that may show you somewhere local and cheaper.

Hey Kip, a huge welcome to the forum buddy. You’ve certainly come to the right place…

As with all these things, a lot of it comes down to budget. With the PCPs, you’ll also have to factor in filling equipment such as a pump and maybe a bottle. You won’t need any of this with a spring powered rifle.

With scopes, you could start by looking at Hawke. They make an entire range of budget scopes that punch way above their weight and come with a no quibble lifetime warranty. As far as a moderator, you should be able to pick up a reasonable one for about £40 such as a Venom.

Start with a low cost rig that’ll get you up and running and replace items with better stuff when you’re ready to upgrade.

BTW, those range fees seem expensive…. Look elsewhere mate….

Hi Kip and welcome to this fantastic forum. @Jay Butts above has pretty much summed it up but what l would add is before you buy anything, get yourself down to a gun shop and shoulder a few before you decide. Airguns can look terrific but just don’t feel right when you shoot them.

Also, I’m very much in the ‘get a springer first’ camp 👍.

Whatever you decide and get, good luck and enjoy the forum.

I don't mind paying for the refil. One company giving away a 5l bottle if you spend over £500 thought that was a good deal tbh.
Will have a look at those.

Is it better to go New or second hand?

There's only 2 places near me that have target shooting with hire. Both about same price for hire

That sounds like a decent deal Kip….

As far as second hand, this forum has what I consider to be the best sales pages in the country. You’d be buying from a genuine enthusiast who’d looked after it and often made improvements….. thing is, you need to read the rules on access to the sales pages. They include making 50 meaningful posts before being granted access. This Keeps the riff raff and charlatans out, stopping them from making a fast buck….

🤷‍♂️ You know best. I wouldn't pay £20 an hour for the company of a prime, pissed and high-spirited Liz Hurley let alone for an hour at a range.
Yup this is why im looking at my own gun then its alot cheaper to use the range 😆 also know alot of land owners that may let me use it for target shooting.

Haha yea I did read the rules and seen 50 post not spammed lol will slowly post and start reading reviews on the forum till unlocked then see what's about before deciding.
Just hard deciding what model to go for 😆.

Hey mate, it may make it easier for members to make suggestions if you give a little more detail to your location. UK is vague… be a little more informative such as your nearest city…. 👍👍👍

You can see this by tapping on any members profile…. 👍

True nearest city Plymouth. Shooting ranges, Ivybridge or Newton abbot.
Excellent mate, stick that on your profile… loads of lads around you that can offer great advice.

You could consider joining a club, Dartmoor Marksmen lies between the two commercial operations you mention.

Ashcombe AGC is a little bit beyond Newton Abbot.

BSA Ultra SE is probably one of the best rifles available, low cost, light, pointable, very easy to work on, easily filled with a hand pump and probably the most well documented for maintenance.

Expect to pay between £3-450 depending on condition, single shot, multishot, regged/unregged, extras (magazines, moderator, scope, etc), stock (plastic, beech, walnut)

Just had a little browse of their website. Will give them a email
