Hi all,

I’m looking for scope recommendations for a BSA Ultra please?

Budget up to about £150, adjustable focus if possible, not too big or heavy and in proportion with the gun ideally.

Normal eye relief preferred.

There are so many out there at the moment, none on which I can try before I buy - so any suggestions from real time experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hi, Personally, I would save a little more and buy a Vector Veyron, These sights red dot the target with great optics. It's on my to get list. Beware of 'cheap' sights that advertise lots & deliver little. Many of these are Chinese made 'look a likes' that predominate the ebay style sites. Best of luck in your endeavours. Let us know how it went. Blessings

I recently got a Vector Veyron 6-24x44 SFP.
The clarity is much better than the Hawke Fastmount I had before (Another budget scope) and I find the red dot reticle gives a lovely sight picture.
It's about 30cm in length so not super compact but still short for a budget buy.
£150 from R&C.

Veyron are great and whilst not zero eye relief you will probably find you need to mount it a little further back which mounting to a bsa, with its 13mm rail will add to the cost

I have the vector air Veyron in 3- 12, and 4-16, they are very nice scopes indeed for the price, you are on the money at about £150.
The link should show options, I prefer first focal plane, second focal plane options are available.

I have an ultra and I use a Vector Veyron 4-16 ffp it’s a compact scope and sits well on the ultra.

I use a Bisley rubber eye cup with my veyron that gets the scope closer , not sure of cost as I was gifted mine but sure they are cheaper than a mount

Thanks very much for all your help and advice so far, it’s much appreciated.

Regarding ffp vs sfp, it’s been a while since I bought a new scope and I can’t honestly remember what my preference was 😳

It’s going to be used for back garden plinking/target work up to about 30 yards or so…..

Would that suit one more than the other, or is it more about what suits my eyesight?

Thank you 🙂

I love my Veyron, but the Optisan EVE/EVX are nice too, as is the CP, don’t forget the Prismatic stuff, my 10x30 MTC SWAT took a bit of getting used to, but it works well on the right gun if you can get on with zero eye relief.

It's probably more about your eyesight imo. I'm a big fan of the vector veyrons and have had about 5 of them, all but one in ffp. They are fantastic, but in FFP the reticle is very thin at lower magnifications (but perfect for me at 10 and above).

Also agree with @Avalon above - the optisan CP is excellent - similar form factor to the Veyrons but a slightly fatter reticle. In my opinion the glass is roughly equivalent quality

As with all makes of scope there are cheaper ends and and better quality.
Personally I’m a hawke fan. They suit my eyes.
I haven’t however tried the cheaper fastmount ones. Airmax and panorama (panorama are sadly no longer made so if u don’t mind used and can find a good one)

I have an immersive Optics 10x40 prismatic scope. Very compact, looks a treat on my S510TR, wide field of vision, quick to acquire target and easy to get the same head position every time as the eye relief is essentially zero. Some people don't seem to get on them for some reason but I can't see what's not to like.

The Veyrons are a good scope at a sensible price , I've got several 4-16 and 6-24 all ffp non illuminated , possibly one is now spare !

Doesn’t that just block out surrounding light rather than bring it closer?

I have both a ffp and a sfp veyron 6-24 ×44
Don't ask why.
Ive found them great if im honest
Slight problem with mounting on the scorpion, but easily fixed that with a cantilever scope mount.
A 13mm cantilever mount? Maybe a bkl one that split evenly in the middle? I was going to get an eagle vision to picatinny then that opens up more choices. Also adds to the price.

In the end I just mounted it on the kids mito carbine with 1 mount. It’s been perfect so I guess that’s another option too. IMG_1682.png

Vs how it sits on an ultra with 2 mounts. IMG_1683.png

Can’t recommend a Veyron enough!
Quite tricky to mount on some rifles with limited rail lengths though, but fine on an ultra! (Multishot) with complete rail. The higher mag versions have slightly longer mounting tube surfaces.
