Watching sky news live and a place called Wennington in Essex has fires jumping from house to house, the aerial pics of burnt out homes look terrible,
I hope all are safe,

Had a bad one here in Milton Keynes too..
At least 6 houses and a kids nursery gone
🙁

Hope is all well with @mikeyhall1. Not long moved house has he.

Moved in the last few weeks.
Lovely new house but no workshop yet!
I think he has moved away from the site of the fire.

Let's hope that all the people and animals emerge safely - quite a few horses, stables etc over that way on both sides of the Thames.
A horse rescue stables near Dartford has been evacuated due to fire nearby

Thanks chaps, we have three fires nearby us at the mo, 30 engines each at two of them - the poor people, it’s a grim day for many sadly 😢

We’re in a built up area so I can’t see anything getting close to us. I think like all we’re trying to stay cool, I’m currently sat in the Indian having a few Cobras with takeaway on order as there’s no chance the oven going on tonight!

I’ve been in Norfolk most of the day and all I’ve seen is fire engines darting about, a quick look on google and it’s shocking the amount of fires.

Thankfully I’ve not seen any loss of life reported so far, but sadly a lot of ruined lives ☹️

God help them.
Had 1 local too, not that bad,
Don't no the info, Al

My dad recognised one fire area Rainham from some aerial images, he remembered rewiring the houses many years ago, "could not park close so had to wheelbarrow everything up".
Once they had completed the job it was struck by lightning.....

Might be this one

And you'd be of the same opinion if it was your or one of your relatives' houses that had just been destroyed would you ?

Not needed and totally out of order 🤬
Has you pointed out “totally out of order“. Could of been an attempt at a little black humour. If it was, it was a fail.
Hopefully everyone is safe in this current situation. Going to effect them mentally and financially for sometime.

Timely reminder to watch those wall wart type power supplies and anything else small with vents that can be covered.
I have seen quite a few with curtains draped over, may get away with that in winter (though really bad idea) in this sort of heat if it is does not shut down internally it will go up.
The older transformer types are often nothing but the transformer, couple of diodes and capacitor, no thermal fuses in those days.

Extension leads - wound type, never use them wound up as the heat cannot escape and if it does not burn this week it will break down the insulation and burn later.

@Barcelona whilst you deleted your comment and as I write this I have two major fires very close, no need to apologise as I’m sure it was a slip of the tongue because the Mrs is a major TOWIE fan and hogs the telly.…….

At least some of us can remain polite and nice even in times of adversity.

Been there with the extension lead. A new start using a 110v 500 watt halogen floodlights in the workshop at work. He only reeled out enough as the distance dictated and to save there being excess cable on the floor and possibly causing a trip hazard. I spotted the reel had started smoking .

It had melted the outer cover on the cable . Once it cooled down , the cable was " welded" to its self and would not uncoil.

After that we had to uncool the full thing and loosely lay it on the floor and put a barrier round it to stop people tripping .

Hopefully with all the fires that have started all around the uk that no one gets hurt or worse. Theres was a fire yesterday fairly local to me in lickey hills country park west Midlands due to some idiot with a disposable bbq 🤦‍♂️.
