Cometa Fans?

Nice stock quality

Yeah the woodwork on them is very nice. Trigger is decent. If im honest, internal finish is on the low side but in essence they are pretty nice shooters. Light piston, long stroke, soft narrow spring. Took me some tinkering to get it right. My experience on target is it seems quite hold sensitive and pellet fussy. Accuracy is there but i have to work to get it.

I found the fusion more hold sensitive than the fenix which is weird I know, I’m thinking it’s the longer stock and barrel moving the weight forward, but when I did my bit it was good.
I can pick up any of the other models and be on point but the fusion seemed to take a few shots until Id got my hold dialled in again, I suppose if it was my only gun I’d be consistent with it right away but I always pick up a 220.

I think I must have got one having been sat on the shelf for a few years.
I’m sure it’s down to ASI occasionally leaving poor spring ends when they trim them, the spring then buckles under load and I think it’s what causes the issue, it’s every now and then one pops up so it’s worth getting your rfd to check the springs dressed properly.
Only seems to occur with the 400’s as their full power elsewhere and we need less spring, and thankfully ASI are brilliant if there’s an issue.

I’m also thinking it’s what caused the issues with the plastic rear guides breaking on older guns

Well this morning I’ve had a look at the new 400 trigger set and I see Cometa have changed it since I last looked 👍

Here they are and you can see on the black blade where I add the extra adjuster, which will +/- first travel to suit
Cometa now have added a stopper to reduce the travel see the pin and note blade clearance to block is near the same as where we set ours, nice move Cometa, but I still feel this needed a mm less so added the grubscrew, also noted the latest metal blade is set back a mm or two making it feel spot on now.

@32:1

I dont suppose youve ever encountered replacing the little BB and spring that goes under the safety slide on the fenix range trigger unit?

I lost both of these tiny parts and cant find them in stock. Tried fitting little bits of springs and 3mm BBs in there. It looks/feels like its working but the safety doesnt actually do anything 😂

You have put safety slide back in and missed the toggle that sits in the little cutout on that slide, pull trigger back and you’ll see the toggle, simply turn it so it’s upright and lay slide on it 👍

If you need the ball and spring after that let me know

Hi 32:1
That is a very informative reply, thank you very much.
Just the info which i was really hoping for.
Not many Cometa stockists up here, my nearest one to Selby, is around 30 miles away. (Yorkshire Sporting Guns Mirfield).
They have a couple of variations of the Fenix on their website, but not the 300.
Surprisingly no Weihrauch's listed.

Might have to drop in at some point and see how one fits!
Shame Big Dan is so far away, posting to a local RFD - not sure what is involved other than prob the postage and a "handling charge" by the receiving RFD i guess.
Crawfords in Scunthorpe have a secondhand compact listed, but it's not a lot more for a new one, that's dealers secondhand pricing for you!

Many thanks
Add £35 one end and £25 at the other. If you have the time, that is a long way for petrol costs.

Thanks ill have to check that toggle part your referring too! There isnt anything stuck up there apart from the top sear bit so maybe its dropped down/round. There is somthing i think it must be but it didnt move when ive tried before 👍

This is all due to me hammering out the remnants of the original steel guide 😅

I think you're Def a Cometa fan then! 🤔

I'm a Cometa fan. I've a couple of Weihrauchs a HW95 and HW80, both very nice to shoot.

But my Cometa 400 compact star just feels "right". I think they're great air rifles.
