We’ve just released a new video comparing the three main airgun power sources side-by-side, using some of the most popular rifles in each category.

It covers the key differences in recoil, accuracy, cost, and long-term ownership — and yes, we’ve got a few opinions of our own 😄

🎯 Watch it here:

We know everyone has their go-to setup — but if you could only pick one power source to stick with, which would it be and why?

Would love to hear how others on here approach it — especially from those who've owned all three.

All thoughts welcome 👇

Nice one, simple and concise for beginners to base their research.

Springer every time ,no air bottles ,no co2 capsules ,just pellets!!

Well of all the air rifle enthusiasts I've ever met, the happiest and by far the most philosophical, was a devout Field Target TX200 guy. Usually near the bottom of the scores and abs loved to shoot.

PCP does give you reward of greater accuracy/scores, but usually leaves you chasing 'better'.

Spring:
Classic & timeless. Able to adjust power easily, no entourage required, minimal fuss for long term use. Just add pellets...

If I didn't need a multishot PCP with NV for rat shooting I would be spring only. Rifle in its case and a tin of pellets and away you go just like the good old days when I was a teenager. With a PCP I seem to have acquired a load of extra necessary kit to go with it.

I own.
A Wiehrauch HW95K
A Gamo GX250
A Air Arms HFT500

For target shooting guaranteeing a certain reasonable score it has to be PCP
But, a well fettled springer can do very well in the right hands.
As a jack of all trades, targets & out & about, if I could only keep one?
The springer every time.

Springer - simple is best.
Gas Ram and Pneumatics whether Single or Multi Stroke are fine too.

Personally, I have no desire to own any PCP - too much other stuff involved - except for an intermittent, irrational lust for a Pax Phoenix. *

No criticism involved, I have shot a good many and been impressed by a few but they simply leave me unmoved.
Cacun a son gout etc. absolutely.
Just not for me, thank you.

N.B.
Pax Phoenix air rifle - not Pat Phoenix aka Elsie Tanner, that is a bit too irrational even for me!

They all have something to give, if you go for the medium to high end price wise, you will get more quality, accuracy, and power, have used all three, pre charged, your tied to charging gear, Co2 your at the mercy of temperture, springer, high end, cheaper ones jump and twang before the pellet leaves the barrel, so require more skill I personally prefer springers, low maintenance, constant power, nothing much to go wrong .

Springers for me. Just grab gun and pellets and go shoot.
