Hi Folks
Spitting bullets today.
Set the fx chrono up ready to test the HW 30.
Put in the info new profile-gun, wieight and brand of pellets etc.
First 6 shots didnt register, Chrono runs of my laptop so not a battery prob.
7th shot registered and then chrono switched profile on its own.It then wouldnt connect to my moble.
Turned everything off and started again. This time the elctronic female idiot gave out the reading in feet per second and then switched profile.
This piece of junk is going in the bin. All i want is a chrono where i can point the guns and shoot to get a reading without needing a uni degree in how to operate the dam thing.
To make things worse i took 10 shots at 20 yards and got some terrible results. The liitle gun needs a set back trigger for my style of shooting for sure.
Oh and only reading i got on junk chrono was 5 ftlbs.Pretty sure that is wrong

PS after a 3 hour stint and getting no joy the fx chrono is now in quite a few pieces and at the bottom of the bin.
Looks like i need to strip the gun again if the reading were correct before it died.

I went for the athlon rangecraft after hearing too many bad things about the fx especially with 177 pellets. My athlon has been easy to use and doesn't miss pellets, it does have a phone app as well but honestly gives all the info i need on it's built in display.

they're kinda notoriously finicky about where they're placed on the barrel, takes some fiddling with placement before I get consistent readings too ...

to be honest though if all you want is "point thing at hole, shoot, get reading, optionally set weight for joules" then this does the job and matched the readings of the big chrono at the range so I know it's reliable...

just beware it's pretty inconvenient lining it up with that hole each time, and at some point you'll probably shoot it 😆

Thanks i will check that out. No joke after 3 hours trying with the fx i hit it with the hammer and its now in several pieces hahaha

A few months ago I bought an Athlon Rangecraft pro, It was on the evil place and I only had a Chinese cheapy so I thought "what the hell".

I gotta say it's been brilliant. Just put it on the bench slightly behind the muzzle and you get a reading every time. No elastic bands to worry about, and it does the whole job for you including average of the string, average ft/lbs etc.

And it stands on the cutest little tripod you ever did see.

I'm well pleased with it.

I have another model of Acetech chrono and it's within 1% of my LMBR (only at about 1/3 of the price!)

at $500 it better bloody well work every time at a bare minimum! I'd also expect it to reload for me :P

You may have more pleasure using it as a target, that's the way one mine went
Lost track of time mate. When checking clock i had spent 4 hours trying to get a reading and around 5 pm it started to wrok in a fashion but the readings were all over the place. Looks like ii will have to strip the gun and put original set up in and try that,

Got two the original lager one and the smaller and not had a problem with either. Have a .177 and a .22 they do require the correct distance from the end of the barrel or moderator.
how near to the end do they need to be. I just got one too

I tried it different distances from end of mod. Tried it with the phone only inches away from the chrono and then tried different distances.
Turned the intire thing off and back on again and it took a good 5 mins to connect to phone again.
Had probs like this with it when a mate wanted to chrono his reximex meta.Voice started off in ftlbs then went into feet per second and then stopped registering completley.

I also have an Acetech, which has been excellent for the last 3+ years. Just put in the pellet weight and shoot away - you can link it to your phone if you want (which allows you to save sets of results there), but it works fine 'standalone' if you prefer. This is the current version:

The only thing is that you do have to shoot through it, but there's a tripod thread underneath so I put it on a super cheap (eBay) tripod so it's at a convenient height and angle. It's accurate and very reliable - it has never failed to register a shot.

More recently I got a NateChrony which attaches to the end of the rifle instead - this has the advantage (for me) of inbuilt WiFi so I can access it directly from my computer at home. It's very nice but more expensive and a little more techie to use ... it has no display so has to be linked to a phone/computer/tablet in order to use it.
