Out of the two, are chainsaw boots more important than trousers?

Wise move on embankmentsI got mine from Radmore & Tucker. Stihl Type C for working on embankments.
Fair point; I deserved that... It was a silly question of mineOnly if you value your feet more than your legs
I'm not keen on cheaper trousers as they usually weigh a ton and cause fatigue just from wearing the damned things.Any advice on where to order from experience with the above? Brands , quality etc
Im after a pair for general ground work cutting up fallen tree's to split into firewood for seasoning & burning on my woodburner I'd rather have some sort of protection while working with the saw
Spotted these on amazon & there is a amazon prime deal coming on tomorrow has anyone got any experience with said brand or could recommend a brand for the above job thanks everyone
There is truth in that, if you have to wear them for prolonged periods go for good quality and light weight, with stretch panels at knees.I'm not keen on cheaper trousers as they usually weigh a ton and cause fatigue just from wearing the damned things.
I got some Stihl Function Ergo trousers about a year ago, they are comfy and light enough to wear all day, I was amazed how comfortable they are and highly recommend them.
I hadn't meant it as a put down but see that now - sorry. Seriously, I've done a lot of chainsawing and seen and heard of so many serous/horrfic accidents and near misses. Getting good quality protective gear is essential even for a bit of firewood - the chainsaw doesn't differentiate between you and the wood. And get along to a course - what you spend in money saves on limbs.Fair point; I deserved that... It was a silly question of mine![]()
No offence taken, I assure you; I'm glad you said it...when it comes to boots and trousers it shouldn't be a choice of one over the other...I don't know what made me think there would be, I'm usually quite sensibleI hadn't meant it as a put down but see that now - sorry. I qualified as a climber in 2007 and did it for a few years before age and disability overtook me. Minimum you need is trousers and boots. I had a branch fold back on me whilst limbing a tree - it pushed the saw back into my leg and my type c trousers ripped open and jammed the chain-a lucky escape. When shit happens with chainsaws it happens really fast!In any weather, except high winds, I climbed through the hot spell this summer, average of 3 to 4 days a week, full kit for a climber is helmet with ear/ face protection, type C trousers, chainsaw boots, and a thin jacket to protect from sun and branch cuts.
I don't wear gloves, they hinder rope work for me and are not obligatory.
I contract to various tree care companies, we all wear appropriate PPE all the time.
Exact cause of my sorry tale above- plus me not paying attention.Great advice from @Gummage regarding energy stored in a fallen tree.
Think of all the branches, bent when hitting ground, as a massive longbow pulled to maximum draw.
Last trousers I bought was from facebook market place. Often find them for sale.
Must be many people buy to get a chainsaw ticket, then work takes them in a different direction, or find size doesn't fit.
