Hi guys, I recently bought the Beretta 694 dlc, I have been using Fiocchi Fblack 28 gram cartridges. A guy on the grounds today suggested as the 694 has steelium barrels, Fiocchi are not the best cartridges to use in this gun, anyone else aware of this

Eh? I assume he’s taking the piddle on purpose. Steelium is Beretta’s particular alloy they use. That’s all. Whether the Fiocchi’s you use are the ‘best’ or not has nothing to do with the barrel material. Like when choosing any particular cartridge, it’s often a benefit to get on the pattern plate and see how they perform. Again, the particular barrel steel alloy used is irrelevant.

I buy whatever goes bang and is cheapest, trust me the clays and the gun don't care.

I shoot a DT11 Trap and DT11 sport both have stellium barrels
The trap shoots Fiocchi Fblack
The sport shoots Fiocchi F3 sporting

Your man is talking bollox like so many on clay grounds

Carry on buddy worry not and enjoy yourself 👍👍

Crap, people like others to use what they're using sometimes, it validates their choice.
Fblacks are fine, that's what I use or F3 Sporting, and if I can't get them then Hull Sporting 100.
In truth anything will work but there is a quality difference with the really really cheap stuff, but yeah carry on with the Fiocchi if you're comfortable with them.

Thank you, I do like the Fiocchi, I was more than a little worried I may be damaging my gun, but clearly not the case. Thanks for your help

The only thing I can think of what he could've meant is if the barrels are bored to a larger diameter such as 18.7 ect. It is suggested that fibre cartridges, assuming your F Blacks are fibre, don't seal against the larger bore as good as plastic does, leading to reduced velocity and a possible impact on pattern consistency.

I have noticed people are quick to criticise cheaper cartridges for one reason or another. However, I shoot Gamebore Velocity Black 28G 7.5 fibre in my SP PRO-12 G5 Black! The pattern it provides on the board is literally perfect, seriously could not be any better! And that is with cheap ammo!

iv also just recently bought the 694 dcl, im shooting Olympic blues 7.5 28g, it really likes them, but noticed after shooting plastic wads barrels take some cleaning, so moved to fibre seem much better,
my biggest disappointment with this gun is how badly finished it is under the adjustable stock, not very good for a gun costing £4'450, poor from beretta

I always shot fibre wads in England. There was one ground that insisted on them, but they are excellent for judging forward allowance on a target because the wad flies true to aim for a good distance and is easy to see. I have been in front of close targets before and broken them with the wad. Another advantage is the next shot wipes out the mess from the previous cartridge, but I did notice more lead deposited. Steel shot is plastic wad only isn't it? If that is the case I know one ground that will finish because they don't want the mess from plastic wads on the ground.
