Can anybody recommend a decent, pocket chrony that’s not the slip on barrel type?

I’m wanting the above for my Taipan. With the huge moderator and cramped area around the barrel end, a slip on type may be a faff.

What are you using and is it any good?

I agree! Even though I sometimes doubt mine it has proved pretty reliable in the four or more years that I've had it, and it is the first version, and from all I have read it's the best of the bunch, sure it can be temperamental on its positioning, but it seldom misses a shot and has even picked up other guns beside me at the range, I have heard people say they are prone to having trouble with lots of metal objects down range, but mine has never been a problem.

I have been using one of these for a few years.
They are cheap and cheerful (under twenty quid) and small enough to take anywhere. Plus, they are reliable.

They are accurate, but lack some of the more sophisticated features which might be expected on the more expensive offerings from other manufacturers.

Yeah, got one of them. Never really got on with it and now I’ve lost the charging cable (which you’ve probably noticed is very weird), it’s become useless.

TBH, the FX is looking favourable at the moment but a couple of lads at my club tell me they’re a little hit and miss.

I’m not wanting to go down the Garmim etc route as I’m not wanting to spend north of four hundred quid…. Tricky!

what model are these please?

I'd say the FX pocket Jay, couple of elastic bands around the silencer. I've had mine for years now and it's been faultless, the app is quite good too. I have compared it to others at my club and it's spot on.

Morning mate.

I know you said no slip on ones, but I found these to be perfectly adequate if used on a dedicated gun only.

I had one and used it on a Prosport with a DM cocking aid so the muzzle was quite chunky.

Once the pins are set up it's a doddle to just slide it over the muzzle and blast away.

Maybe worth a punt from Ali Express for pennies. Fits in the palm of your hand.

I've been using the FX for a couple of years now and I'd recommend it. Once you've set it up it works really well, I think that this is where most of the problems that people have with it are.

I think the FX is probably the one that fits the bill. Ive had mine an over a year and not had any issues with it. I’ve also ran it side by side Vs others and no issues. Light can become a factor as with any of them. Downside it drinks battery’s quicker than me at a rugby club party. Get recharge battery’s if you get one.

I use one of these. It's predominantly made for airsoft, but it works brilliantly with air guns and is much more reliable than the FX I wasted my money on 🙁

The orcair chrono I have is very good.

Thanks mate, I’ll take a look.

I, rather dubiously, invested just a few pounds in the HT and have found it to be good value for money. I don’t have it barrel mounted preferring to just take careful aim down the centre of the tube from about 50mm away. Checked it against the club’s chrono and it performed well. Rechargeable, very portable and a fair guide.

Thanks mate, good price that too. 👍
