I have just obtained a gas heater for the 'workshop' and wondering what the panel pay for a 15kg gas bottle? I've got an empty one to exchange.

Calor Gas 15kg exchange are £56.50 standard price.
Other gasses are available cheaper/kg eg Ramsey Gas,usually in a 13kg cylinder
Edit-both Butane.

If your heater can take propane, it gives off more heat.
Used to be able to exchange butane for propane but it's many years since I have.
If not, look for an empty propane - usually find bottles abandoned
Initial payment on a bottle is nonrefundable - total ripoff

I can't lift the big cylinders. Here 10Kg Butane or 9Kg Propane (same size bottle) costs €30.50, so about the same. We use Butane for cooking and Propane for weed burning because it takes much longer to freeze (-42C against -2C).

You might find a local supplier more competitive on price than Calor. I use Cheshire Gas around here, the bottles are a little smaller than Calor, but the price £ per kg is competitive. The clincher is free delivery, often same day if you call them in the morning,
I have both butane and propane for my heater, I use the propane when it’s really cold as the butane won’t work in very low temperatures.
There are quick release fittings that you can get that fit in the gas hose that make switching the regulators quick and easy. Look similar to those used on compressed air hoses, but are brass and specifically for gas.
I have them fitted to my heater, bbq grill and camping cooker. Makes it easy to use either cylinder on any bit of kit.

If using propane with your heater, it does give off more moisture than butane, which causes me a condensation problem in my concrete prefab garage workshop. Good ventilation essential, for condensation and safe combustion.

I tend to use a cheap Chinese diesel heater for most of my workshop heating needs, which is cheaper to run. But the instant heat of the gas heater is very convenient.

If going for a cheaper price/KG "make" of gas(often 13kg) the "clip on" type regulators are sometimes different sizes.
Calor Butane 15kg takes a 21mm clip on reg.

Flogas used to use a 20mm clip on regulator, I believe those have been phased out over the years in favour of the more common 21mm Calor clip on reg.

I gave up on my little butane heater and bought a cheap diesel heater, run it on the home heating oil, way better that the butane actually get warm in the workshop now.
