budget springer scope

Here is pic of mine on my rifle if you do buy one don't skimp on the mounts though.

I've only ever had two scopes fail on me and both recently.

Hawke Airmax 2-7x32, ret rotated anti clockwise, replacement all good so far. Returns to Hawkes was really good and easy.

A Wulf Fireball 2-7x32 , focus went wonky and something loose inside.

I've seen a few people with cheapo scopes from Ali etc and they are happy with them but the glass looked terrible to me.

If you buy a cheapo you might get lucky. Do not buy cheapo rings, try BKL.

Hi all ..just gathering up info ..on my upcoming first .22 rifle set up. still on the fence with it all.
so springers are hard on scopes i hear
any recommendations for first scope with low budget ..plinking and a bit of 30 yard targets.
Or are there ways of protecting a scope

cheers steve
I don’t think you can go wrong with either Hawke Fastmount, Nikko Sterling mount master or wulf fireball. All come with mounts and will give you a good base start. You can decide where you want to go from there, if at all. It might be all the scope you ever need.

For plinking at a distance of 30m, many models will be suitable, but you'll probably decide to change them later. To be honest, compressed air is addictive... France too...

Still not sure on the rifle..heading towards a Hatsan 65 .22 ..yeh will be setting up open sights first to start with then moving on to a scope.....and yeh France

I have no experience of the Hatsan..

How easy is it going to be to get hold of a Hawke scope in France?

I would be inclined to start with a simple scope, something like a 4 x 32 maybe?
Especially if buying on a budget.

Another vote for the Hawke range, especially the budget Fastmount and Vantage. I have a number of .22's using them and not had any issues.

For France, I'd say many brands are available, but mostly by order, so there aren't many opportunities to try out different scopes. Unless you live fairly close to a specialized gun shop.

I don't want to mess scope topic but if you are on Hatsans double check the mod 65 specs. It can be a Vortex (gas ram) model and as far as I know this model's gasrams could be problematic. Just a warning.

Mod 55 and Mod 85 if available great springers from Hatsan.

Agreed for plinking up to 30 yards then you’ll get a lot of enjoyment and value for money from a 4x32. I was only looking through my Hawke Sport HD 4x32 in the week thinking this really ought to be on a rifle they are such nice little scopes. Sadly at the range I go to most folks benchrest PCP, so for the average shot with a half decent rifle things don’t get interesting until 50yards plus. Consequently most of the targets have migrated to 30yards plus where my eyes run out of steam on 4x.

My Club is very flexible, thankfully.

Lots of targets out to 70 yards for those do inclined.

Lots of really good shots with PCPs.
And me, wobbly old git with Springers getting groups at 25 yards which look like Constellations - astronomical distances between the "stars."

I occasionally try with iron / open sights with similar results.

It's all good fun, which is the point for me.

The UUQ scope from Amazon is a good scope but the rings are rubbish, and would also suggest some quality rings from Optics warehouse, the only problem is some of the rings cost more than the scope!

It's true that many mounts cost a bit of money.
I assume that I'll switch, I'll try different scopes, but mounts can last you a lifetime of shooting if you choose a decent quality one; naturally, I'm talking about air rifles.

It's better to save up a little, then buy a proper scope specifically designed for either the weapon or the chosen discipline.

We often make this mistake at the beginning; it's inexpensive, but then you have to change it fairly quickly.
When I first got interested in target shooting, I bought a Hawke 8-32, a very good scope, but not for the discipline. So I bought a Big Nikko, but I wasted my money...

Thanks Squire ..ive just checked scope out and read a review from the states..guy using a Hatsan65 which is what im thinking of getting..and said he has pushed 1000 or so pellets and scope is good ..

I'll only talk about the two brands I've used for several years, Sportsmatch and BKL; there are a multitude of other excellent products available.

I've never had any problems with springers, let alone PCP airsoft guns.

FWIW

I always try a scope with the included mounts - some of them are adequate for my level of plinking but some are utter rubbish.
No point in not trying them first, to my way of thinking.
Then he prepared to upgrade if needed?
