Stripped my ultra tonight as the bolt chrome has started flaking off and making the bolt rough to pull back.

Removed the bolt and used 600 wet and dry to remove any chrome plating from the bolt body.

Did a full strip down and removed the hammer and carrier to check its condition ....

1 question - is this a normal BSA Ultra hammer setup?

Yes, but you are showing it without the latch pin which locks the hammer weight in the hammer bearing.

The green bit (marked red ) might be red or may not be fitted at all. The spring (marked blue) is shown in the wrong position it is actually after the green bit.

Do not be tempted to grease or in other way lubricated the hammer bearing in the main spring tube, it leads to inconsistent hammer strikes.

Totally standard Daz

Not worth changing either, in my opinion
