When I bought my BSA Super 10 .22 before Xmas it came with two magazines. One was clearly an older style metal one which works ok.

The other that seemed to be broken or at least a slack spring and clearly isn't a BSA.

It's stamped with what looks like a PB

I've googled searched and it seems Pneumatic Ballistics made a mag to fit BSA pcp's, is this one of them.

Can anyone confirm this and know a bit of background to these mags and how they function ie: are they meant to be a slack spring?

Before I start stripping it to replace the spring does anyone know if they springs are available?

Looks like one to me,they are still trading as far as I can tell, drop them a line see if they sell spares👍

Great just googled them and PB is just 30 miles from me.

They also still sell these for £50 and looking at PB website pic, the rotary chambers seem to run slack like mine.

PB website pic below. Which seems to match mind above.

Maybe mine isn't broken....'their all like that Sir', lol.

I'm a bit more confident loading it up and trying it now.

I’ve had a couple of PB mag’s over the years and iirc they have no mechanism to hold any pre-load on the spring, so are slack all the time. I seem to remember when using them I would have to put an extra turn on the cylinder before loading….

Cheers that's great info.

Easy when you know how. Hard to explain but from memory rotate and one of the pellet slots is a different shape or size. Thats the one you start with dunno.

Try this link

Or give them a call and speak to Jim Lawson, he’s the designer/maker of their rifles. If you are struggling for a number drop me a PM and I’ll send you the mobile I speak to him On.

I know this is off topic but dm3d make bsa mags which are better than the originals in that you cant continue firing with an empty mag.

On.

Many thanks, I've saved the PB webpage.

Gave the PB mag a try thanks to @Littlejon365 video for the starting point and thanks to @gizwaz suggesting the extra turn as it seems to need that extra turn.

Eg: start off with thick bar in position then turn a full rotation and then start loading at one mag chamber past the thick bar.

And for my old hands that's where the issue started.

I'm leading in my Super 10 bore with JSB Exact Jumbo 15.9g and these pellets can drop straight through.

It's a very well all metal mag, but my old hands had trouble with keeping pellet in the mag chamber and rotating as they either dropped out or caught on side blocking rotation.

Loading mag in rifle no problem, loading pellet in breech smooth and effortless.

I really like these mags, so I'm going to persevere and try to find a comfortable loading technique.

Another thing I seem to remember is that the side you load from has an oval hole, extending to the left of the breach side “exit hole”, with the idea being that when loading you rotate past the exit hole a tad so that when the pellet drops in it’s stopped by the opposite inner face of the mag case, rather than falling straight thru.

Great thanks I'll have a look after lunch (y)

FWIW These work fine in a Super 10
They’re not usually specked for use in an S10
But the notch cut out is specifically for them.
Dealers don’t even seem to know that

The other mag that came with the Super 10 is on of those. Works fine.

I just tried a modern (not clx, one before) and that seems to fit, but need to look closer as it requires precise placement in slot doesn't just pop in.

The coloured plastic rotor bsa mags foul on the indexing pin for the tick tock mags, assuming that's still present. Easy to remove

Many thanks, yes easy to remove I've done one before on a Ultra MMC, but someone's already been inside this one and removed it.

It feels like there's a burr or something not helping it sit right. I'll investigate sometime as the other mags I have work fine atm.

I wouldn't bother with Pneumatic Ballistics mags their crap, albeit high quality well made crap.
I bought two, return one for a refund and kept the other for my box of airgun curiosities.
