My first ever springer was a battered Superstar and I still like it! After developing a preference for underlevers and building a small collection I felt a need for a Goldstar to add to the collection, after placing a wanted ad on here @Plinky Dave responded and we did a deal. I was absolutely delighted when it arrived, but initially only had time to put one magazine through it until yesterday.
Well as a result I have fallen in love, it is everything I wanted in a springer and more. It is very accurate over the distance I shoot at, I just wish I was a better shot and didn't have age related shakes from high blood pressure. I could take lots of pictures, but I prefer to shoot it, so here are the only two I did earlier:

Id love to have one of those, wish there were more of them about, if they made new springers with mags that would be great as well 👍

Lovely .I used to have one in .22 in really nice condition.Wish I still had it .

Lovely rifles. I have a Goldie and a Superstar, both in .177, and love shooting them. Pretty damn consistent out to 50 odd yds too if I’m on form. A friend up the club tried my Goldstar and as a result now has one of his own 😁

What a lovely rifle I am sick with envy, just think how popular this gun would be if they still made it or even a modern version of it.

Had another session with the Goldstar today, to do a little pellet testing! Still getting to grips with the process, have learnt that it is better/more accurate if you lock the magazine in Homer face palm. Luckily it came with 3 mags but one of them needed a little tlc to make fit, but it doesn't seem to cycle like the others and on inspection, the spring inside appears a bit weak!! So I wasted a lot of time fiddling with stuff rather than shooting it. The magazine lock sometimes doesn't want to release so needs a little grease/oil to relax things.
From a shooting point of view, the trigger is much better than my older Superstar and it is as accurate as any of my other springers given my limited ability and does not appear to be pellet fussy although AA fields seemed slightly better than JSB exact (I don't seem to have anything that particularly loves these!!
With more practise this may become my ratter as I like the ability to to take a quick 2nd shot if needed.

If anybody has any practical advice on how to get the best out of this fantastic rifle I would be very grateful.

I will bring it to the summer bash so that anyone interested can give it a try, it really is fabulous 🥰

Sorry to bust in but you’ve just brought back a memory….. I got given a springer back around 1999/ 2000 didn’t have a clue about guns just got asked if I wanted it and said yes … I think it was a 177 and it had a plastic revolving magazine near were the stock meets the barrel ( forgive newbie terms 😳) think it held around 8-10 pellets roughly , never fired it and sold it for the same price I paid £50 … anyone have a clue what it might have been ? Since getting into guns a year ago it’s bugged me not knowing what it was and should I have kept it …. I thought it was a weirauch, but couldn’t find anything on Google so may have been totally out …

I'd go for a Chinese B45 rifle

Hi does anyone know if you can still get mags for them or i think read somewhere i can do something with a modern BSA mag to make it fit?

Hi just bought .22 today the BSA magazines will fit from say the BSA Ultra and work! seems a lovely gun has less recoil than my tx200 - Paul Short sorry paul haha!

Think there is a thing you need to do to remove a relocating locator pin on the mags. Oh and keep it pointed down when you cock it or the pellets can fall backward and put a proverbial spanner in the works

If you want my honest opinion, I don't think Springers improve with higher power. My Goldstar is shooting at just under 10.5, whereas until I took remedial action was close to 12! I took a coil off (with assistance from someone who knew what they were doing!) and it is just under 11 and of the 2 is twangier, I think it would benefit from some TLC, but the scope rail is such a pain I will find other things to do first

I have one and confirm putting a half decent spring in it can take it well over the limit if you are not careful.

They were sold at much higher power levels in North America and I think BSA just put a weaker spring in for the U K.

I have had mine since new and despite owning newer and flashier guns this remains a favourite.

Mine does about 11.0-11.2 with BSA Goldstar pellets. After 30+ years the magazines still cycle perfectly.

Hi David, just been shooting mine running hot just taken spring down so firing now 11.4 thankfully! i think the person before must have put new Titan spring in it and not checked the FPE, i purchased it a couple of days ago something about it i just love its long enough in length alone to kill something!!! very accurate, i have put big set Hawke 4x12x50, the usual guns i own completely different to this, taipan Slash, Huben GK1, TX200, Prosport so on!

Many thanks for your info.
