I'm thinking about getting subject shotgun and wondering how good the Laminate stock is? I've watched many Youtube videos and mostly the reviewers rave about the laminate but think they are probably quite biased. If any of you have experience with this laminate would appreciate your opinions.

Thanks

I think it looks gorgeous and Im a Beretta man! Being Browing it should be pretty good TBH.

You need to pick one up and preferably shoot it too, I wouldn't say its unbalanced but it just feels different if you're used to wood.
Maybe someone more qualified than me can say about casting it on-off, it might be different.

I’ve one I brought about 4 years ago used in mint condition. Bit dinked now but that doesn’t worry me. Great gun beautifully balanced and I’d describe it as lively and point able. Shot clays with it and used it on beaters and keepers days on the pheasants. Thoroughly recommended.

My go to gun is the 525sl and I prefer it to my conventional wood one . It's a tad heavier but I like a heavy gun . I also like the adjustability of the stock now I've lost a bit of weight.
Mine is a left handed one that I bought just before the true left handed one came out . Id definitely recommend them.

I suspect that your's and @herb64 positive comments are going to cost me a lot of money ;)

Hello, Would never by a Shotgun with Laminate stock, Seen a few break over the years, You cannot beat a nice Walnut stock
You can beat walnut… a nice laminate one!!! I’ve never seen or heard of one breaking, probably they have but so have walnut ones. Horses for courses buy what you fancy.

I have a 525 nice gun but mine in walnut and it’s a 16 bore the thing I find with laminate it seems to be heavy but some people like heavy guns it definitely will soak up the recoil the world is your lobster so if you can. Try before you buy would be my advice . Good luck

Yes definitely try before you buy. They do handle differently, but bear in mind most times you can adjust the balance etc in the same way you would a Walnut one. The only other consideration is they don’t take to bending, so you’d need to make sure cast etc is spot on for you before committing. One of my friends at our clay club has a 525 laminate, and I find it fits perfectly (though I’m used to Brownings and am lucky that their ‘average’ stock is perfect for me). Obviously the adjustable cheek-piece helps.
