My deathgrip fell over the other day and it smashed the clamp to bit, it's not repairable. The legs are still fine, can I change the head for a cheap 3d printed one? If so what do I need to get? I'll buy a replacement deathgrip anyway but could use two

I actually changed mine to a camera type ball head. Few bits needed but cost me about £75/£80 all in. Have an arca rail on my gun I can fit straight to it or I’ve put the arca fitting onto my clamp head so can fit that too. But I’d imagine there isn’t any reason you couldn’t fit the 3d clamp.

My mate cracked his but you where luckier than him , his gun was still in it when it got knocked over .

As previously mentioned, you most certainly don't need the clamp head. A much better option is an Arca ball head and an additional option of Arca to Picatinny adapter.
Also, the 3d printed clamp option you mention is also available with an arca adapter, which is pretty decent, if that's what you desire.

As cool as it looks I'm not changing my guns to arca as hate changing bits on my guns and like to keep them as bare as possible! I do appreciate the suggestion though. I like the way the clamp works and it's perfect for all my uses, just don't want to throw the tripod away that's all

You don’t need to change any of your guns to arca, cheap arca to picatinny, and arca to dovetail adapters are readily available.
Mind you, it was just a suggestion to allow to keep your bogdeath.

I don't have picatinny or dovetail or anything on any of my guns, I was just hoping to be able to put a cheapo clamp on the broken one to not waste it completely

There are far more options for saddle clamps now.
I personally would not chose a 3D printed one, go for one of the metal types.

If you can stick a decent Arca adaptor and QR plate under it as it makes changing options so much easier.
A heavy duty ball head too. Or levelling plate at least.

or

Metal is just (IMO) a better material for this use.
Yes I do have one of the 3D printed ones to compare.

Would that fit straight on?

I would expect so, check if the legs have a 1/4" or 3/8" whitworth thread

Just be careful if you go for the 1/4" one as the one they sent me was tapped 6mm, a production cock up.
The second one similar (no longer stocked) was 1/4"

That is why having an Arca QR plate is a boon as I just stuck a decent 6mm screw into the Arca plate and good to go.

I think you may have misunderstood my intention.
Clamp or no Clamp, adapter or not.
Hopefully photos will explain. Many more options than the original.

I put a video head, and levelling bowl on my Artcise tripod for camera/video use, I intended to switch back to the ball head for shooting but don't bother now.
A fluid head with a clamp is actually a really nice combination, can't fall over sideways and will only fall forwards or backwards, slowly if loose.
I've said this before, "as long as the user is not an idiot, the full ball head is great", I am obviously an idiot, as I had a gun fall sideways, pinching my hand, in the dark in the first half hour of use. The gun did not fall from the saddle clamp but it was close. I limit the movement of ball heads now, for that momentary lapse of concentration issue, I've no need for the gun to be able to go 90 degrees sideways so make it hard to do so.
